1	1	SENATE RESOLUTION NO. 297
2	2	WHEREAS, The Senate of the State of Texas is pleased to
3	3	welcome the visiting delegation from Tarrant County and join in
4	4	the celebration of Tarrant County Days at the State Capitol on
5	5	March 6 and 7, 2019; and
6	6	WHEREAS, Tarrant County was named for General Edward
7	7	H. Tarrant of the Republic of Texas Militia and was created in
8	8	1849 as one of 26 counties formed from the original Peters
9	9	Colony; its county seat is Fort Worth; and
10	10	WHEREAS, The county has evolved over the years from a
11	11	frontier community into a modern center for business, education,
12	12	and world-class culture; it is among the most populous counties
13	13	in Texas and the nation and is home to 20 outstanding public
14	14	school districts; and
15	15	WHEREAS, Tarrant County is a cultural hub in North Texas
16	16	that is known for its many exceptional museums, including the
17	17	Kimbell Art Museum, the Amon Carter Museum of American Art, the
18	18	Modern Art Museum of Fort Worth, and the National Cowgirl Museum
19	19	and Hall of Fame; an array of family entertainment destinations
20	20	and tourist attractions, such as Six Flags Over Texas, the Fort
21	21	Worth Zoo, and the AT&T Stadium, also draws visitors from around
22	22	the world; other area attractions include the Fort Worth Water
23	23	Gardens, historic downtown Grapevine, the Grapevine Vintage
24	24	Railroad, the oldest botanic garden in Texas, and the Fort Worth
25	25	Stockyards; and
26	26	WHEREAS, The county's diverse and prosperous business
27	27	community ranges from cattle ranching to small businesses to
28	28	multinational corporations and includes leaders in the defense,
29	29	aerospace, and transportation industries; Dallas-Fort Worth
30	30	International Airport, Naval Air Station Joint Reserve Base Fort
31	31	Worth, and the Fort Worth Alliance Airport all contribute to the
32	32	regional and state economy, and Lockheed Martin's F-35 program is
33	33	one of the largest employers in the area; and
34	34	WHEREAS, Tarrant County is also home to many excellent
35	35	institutions of higher education, which provide a variety of
36	36	opportunities for students and produce a highly educated
37	37	workforce; these institutions include The University of Texas at
38	38	Arlington, the University of North Texas Health Science Center at
39	39	Fort Worth, Texas Christian University, Tarrant County College,
40	40	the College of Saint Thomas More, Arlington Baptist College,
41	41	Trinity Valley Baptist Seminary and College, Tarleton State
42	42	University--Fort Worth, and Texas Wesleyan University; and
43	43	WHEREAS, The people of Tarrant County have worked hard to
44	44	build and sustain their vibrant community, and they can be justly
45	45	proud of their rich history, their many achievements, and their
46	46	enduring public spirit; now, therefore, be it
47	47	RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas, 86th
48	48	Legislature, hereby recognize March 6 and 7, 2019, as Tarrant
49	49	County Days at the State Capitol and extend to the visiting
50	50	delegation sincere best wishes for an enjoyable and memorable
51	51	visit to Austin; and, be it further
52	52	RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution be prepared in
53	53	honor of this special occasion.
