SENATE RESOLUTION NO. 30 WHEREAS, The Senate of the State of Texas is pleased to recognize the certified registered nurse anesthetists of this state and to welcome them as they celebrate January 28, 2019, as CRNA Day at the Capitol; and WHEREAS, Certified registered nurse anesthetists are highly trained specialist nurses who play an essential role in our health care system; nurse anesthetists were the nation's first professional group to provide anesthesia and the first recognized group of advanced practice registered nurses; and WHEREAS, Nurse anesthetists work across a broad spectrum of medical settings, and they administer anesthetics to millions of patients each year; their expertise is an essential element of care in traditional surgical environments and in a wide range of other medical facilities, including many general practice offices and specialty clinics; and WHEREAS, To honor the important work of nurse anesthetists across the nation, the week of January 20 through 26, 2019, has been designated as National CRNA Week; and WHEREAS, Texas is home to more than 4,500 certified registered nurse anesthetists who have devoted their careers to serving the citizens of the Lone Star State; now, therefore, be it RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas, 86th Legislature, hereby commend all those who serve as certified registered nurse anesthetists in Texas for the important role they play in the provision of quality health care and designate January 28, 2019, as CRNA Day at the Capitol; and, be it further RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution be prepared in honor of this special day.
