| 2 | 2 | | WHEREAS, The Senate of the State of Texas is pleased to |

| 3 | 3 | | recognize the certified registered nurse anesthetists of this |

| 4 | 4 | | state and to welcome them as they celebrate January 28, 2019, as |
|---|
| 5 | 5 | | CRNA Day at the Capitol; and |
|---|
| 6 | 6 | | WHEREAS, Certified registered nurse anesthetists are |
|---|
| 7 | 7 | | highly trained specialist nurses who play an essential role in |
|---|
| 8 | 8 | | our health care system; nurse anesthetists were the nation's |
|---|
| 9 | 9 | | first professional group to provide anesthesia and the first |
|---|
| 10 | 10 | | recognized group of advanced practice registered nurses; and |
|---|
| 11 | 11 | | WHEREAS, Nurse anesthetists work across a broad spectrum |
|---|
| 12 | 12 | | of medical settings, and they administer anesthetics to millions |
|---|
| 13 | 13 | | of patients each year; their expertise is an essential element of |
|---|
| 14 | 14 | | care in traditional surgical environments and in a wide range of |
|---|
| 15 | 15 | | other medical facilities, including many general practice |
|---|
| 16 | 16 | | offices and specialty clinics; and |
|---|
| 17 | 17 | | WHEREAS, To honor the important work of nurse anesthetists |
|---|
| 18 | 18 | | across the nation, the week of January 20 through 26, 2019, has |
|---|
| 19 | 19 | | been designated as National CRNA Week; and |
|---|
| 20 | 20 | | WHEREAS, Texas is home to more than 4,500 certified |
|---|
| 21 | 21 | | registered nurse anesthetists who have devoted their careers to |
|---|
| 22 | 22 | | serving the citizens of the Lone Star State; now, therefore, be it |
|---|
| 23 | 23 | | RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas, 86th |
|---|
| 24 | 24 | | Legislature, hereby commend all those who serve as certified |
|---|
| 25 | 25 | | registered nurse anesthetists in Texas for the important role |
|---|
| 26 | 26 | | they play in the provision of quality health care and designate |
|---|
| 27 | 27 | | January 28, 2019, as CRNA Day at the Capitol; and, be it further |
|---|
| 28 | 28 | | RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution be prepared in |
|---|
| 29 | 29 | | honor of this special day. |
