4 | 4 | | Chamber of Commerce have been instrumental in the growth and |

5 | 5 | | success of the Bay Area Houston region of Texas; and |

6 | 6 | | WHEREAS, The more than 631,000 residents of Bay Area |

7 | 7 | | Houston enjoy the region's low-cost business climate, affordable |
---|
8 | 8 | | and diverse housing options, and year-round activities, as well |
---|
9 | 9 | | as more than 3,000 acres of parks and recreational spaces; and |
---|
10 | 10 | | WHEREAS, The communities are sustained by the success of |
---|
11 | 11 | | Bay Area Houston's five primary industry clusters: aerospace and |
---|
12 | 12 | | aviation, health care, maritime, specialty chemical, and |
---|
13 | 13 | | tourism/recreation, as well as its four fundamental service |
---|
14 | 14 | | sectors: education and workforce development, governmental |
---|
15 | 15 | | services, licensed professional services, and business support |
---|
16 | 16 | | services; the area is home to a number of outstanding facilities |
---|
17 | 17 | | that represent these concentrations, including the NASA Johnson |
---|
18 | 18 | | Space Center, Space Center Houston, the Bayport Industrial |
---|
19 | 19 | | Complex, five major health care systems, five school districts, |
---|
20 | 20 | | two colleges, three universities, the Houston Spaceport at |
---|
21 | 21 | | Ellington Airport, and Port Houston; and |
---|
22 | 22 | | WHEREAS, The Bay Area Houston Economic Partnership, the |
---|
23 | 23 | | Clear Lake Area Chamber of Commerce, and the League City Regional |
---|
24 | 24 | | Chamber of Commerce have supported these pillars of local |
---|
25 | 25 | | industry through regional collaboration, responsible |
---|
26 | 26 | | leadership, and operational integrity; the groups' initiatives |
---|
27 | 27 | | have created partnerships to foster technical innovations, |
---|
28 | 28 | | workforce development, and a cooperative approach to business |
---|
29 | 29 | | development; and |
---|
30 | 30 | | WHEREAS, The leadership and members of these three |
---|
31 | 31 | | exemplary associations have played a pivotal role in the |

32 | 32 | | development of a diverse economy in the communities of Bay Area |

33 | 33 | | Houston, and they are indeed deserving of recognition for their |

34 | 34 | | outstanding efforts; now, therefore, be it |

35 | 35 | | RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas, 86th |

36 | 36 | | Legislature, hereby commend the Bay Area Houston Economic |

37 | 37 | | Partnership, the Clear Lake Area Chamber of Commerce, and the |

38 | 38 | | League City Regional Chamber of Commerce for their contributions |
