| 2 | 2 | | WHEREAS, The Senate of the State of Texas is pleased to |

| 3 | 3 | | recognize Dr. Stephen Mansfield, who is retiring on December 31, |

| 4 | 4 | | 2019, as president and chief executive officer of Methodist |
|---|
| 5 | 5 | | Health System after a distinguished 46-year career in the health |
|---|
| 6 | 6 | | care field; and |
|---|
| 7 | 7 | | WHEREAS, Dr. Mansfield joined Methodist Health System in |
|---|
| 8 | 8 | | 2006 after having served with distinction at Saint Vincent Health |
|---|
| 9 | 9 | | System in Little Rock, Arkansas; a graduate of Ottawa University |
|---|
| 10 | 10 | | in Kansas, he holds a master of business administration degree |
|---|
| 11 | 11 | | from the University of Tennessee at Martin and a doctorate from |
|---|
| 12 | 12 | | Regent University in Virginia; and |
|---|
| 13 | 13 | | WHEREAS, Under Dr. Mansfield's outstanding leadership, |
|---|
| 14 | 14 | | Methodist Health System has grown from two acute care hospitals |
|---|
| 15 | 15 | | to include 10 hospital campuses; the institution has improved its |
|---|
| 16 | 16 | | bond rating and has also seen notable gains in clinical quality |
|---|
| 17 | 17 | | and safety, patient and employee satisfaction, and physician |
|---|
| 18 | 18 | | experience scores; and |
|---|
| 19 | 19 | | WHEREAS, Dr. Mansfield has held leadership positions in an |
|---|
| 20 | 20 | | array of professional and community organizations, including the |
|---|
| 21 | 21 | | American Hospital Association, the Dallas Foundation, the Dallas |
|---|
| 22 | 22 | | Citizens Council, and the Dallas Regional Chamber; he has been |
|---|
| 23 | 23 | | honored with many awards, has received the Virginia Chandler |
|---|
| 24 | 24 | | Dykes Leadership Award from Texas Woman's University, and has |
|---|
| 25 | 25 | | been named Healthcare Executive of the Year by D Magazine; and |
|---|
| 26 | 26 | | WHEREAS, An exemplary administrator and executive who has |
|---|
| 27 | 27 | | contributedgreatlytothesuccessofoneofthenation'sbest |
|---|
| 28 | 28 | | health care providers, he is respected and admired by his |
|---|
| 29 | 29 | | colleagues, and his presence at Methodist Health System will be |
|---|
| 30 | 30 | | greatly missed; now, therefore, be it |
|---|
| 31 | 31 | | RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas, 86th |
|---|
| 32 | 32 | | Legislature, hereby commend Dr. Stephen Mansfield on his |
|---|
| 33 | 33 | | exceptional service as president and chief executive officer of |
|---|
| 34 | 34 | | Methodist Health System and extend to him best wishes for |
|---|
| 35 | 35 | | continued success in all his endeavors; and, be it further |
|---|
| 36 | 36 | | RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution be prepared for |
