| 5 | 5 | | WHEREAS, A full and generous life drew to a close with the |
|---|
| 6 | 6 | | passing of Lucille S. Croley of Longview on February 11, 2019, at |
|---|
| 7 | 7 | | the age of 100; and |
|---|
| 8 | 8 | | WHEREAS, The daughter of A. W. and Hallie Slaid, the |
|---|
| 9 | 9 | | former Lucille Slaid was born on October 28, 1918, in Stanley, |
|---|
| 10 | 10 | | Louisiana; and |
|---|
| 11 | 11 | | WHEREAS, Mrs. Croley enjoyed the love and support of her |
|---|
| 12 | 12 | | husband, J. E. Croley, with whom she shared a rewarding marriage |
|---|
| 13 | 13 | | that spanned 54 years before his passing; she took great pride in |
|---|
| 14 | 14 | | her children, Karen and Jim, and with the passing years she had |
|---|
| 15 | 15 | | the pleasure of seeing her family grow to include five |
|---|
| 16 | 16 | | grandchildren, Kristi, Kelly, Keri, Charles, and Carolyn; and |
|---|
| 17 | 17 | | WHEREAS, This beloved woman skillfully balanced family |
|---|
| 18 | 18 | | life with a rewarding career as a secretary for a number of major |
|---|
| 19 | 19 | | oil companies, and she retired from Stroh's Brewery in 1984; she |
|---|
| 20 | 20 | | was an active member of First United Methodist Church, and in her |
|---|
| 21 | 21 | | leisure time, she enjoyed reading, playing bridge, and |
|---|
| 22 | 22 | | traveling; above all else, she cherished the time spent in the |
|---|
| 23 | 23 | | company of family and friends; and |
|---|
| 24 | 24 | | WHEREAS, Lucille Croley witnessed a panorama of change |
|---|
| 25 | 25 | | over the course of a century, and she met life's challenges and |
|---|
| 26 | 26 | | opportunities with dignity and grace, earning the deep |
|---|
| 27 | 27 | | admiration of all who were privileged to know her; now, |
|---|
| 28 | 28 | | therefore, be it |
|---|
| 29 | 29 | | RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas, 86th |
|---|
| 30 | 30 | | Legislature, hereby pay tribute to the memory of Lucille |
|---|
| 31 | 31 | | S. Croley and extend heartfelt sympathy to her loved ones; and, |
|---|
| 32 | 32 | | be it further |
|---|
| 33 | 33 | | RESOLVED, That an official copy of this Resolution be |

| 34 | 34 | | prepared for her family and that when the Texas Senate adjourns |
