| 2 | 2 | | WHEREAS, The Senate of the State of Texas is pleased to |

| 3 | 3 | | recognize the Governor's Commission for Women for serving the |

| 4 | 4 | | State of Texas for more than 50 years; and |
|---|
| 5 | 5 | | WHEREAS, The Governor's Commission for Women was |
|---|
| 6 | 6 | | established in 1967 by executive order as the Texas Commission on |
|---|
| 7 | 7 | | the Status of Women, and the group's name was changed to its |
|---|
| 8 | 8 | | current name by executive order in 1983; and |
|---|
| 9 | 9 | | WHEREAS, The commission was created to promote state |
|---|
| 10 | 10 | | policies that provide equal opportunities for women and aid in |
|---|
| 11 | 11 | | the advancement of women in Texas; and |
|---|
| 12 | 12 | | WHEREAS, Over the years, the commission has worked to |
|---|
| 13 | 13 | | support programs and activities that ensure that women have |
|---|
| 14 | 14 | | access to resources and opportunities in business and in the |
|---|
| 15 | 15 | | community to help them succeed; the commission also recognizes |
|---|
| 16 | 16 | | the achievements of women throughout Texas, and its work |
|---|
| 17 | 17 | | continues today under Executive Order GA 01; and |
|---|
| 18 | 18 | | WHEREAS, The Governor's Commission for Women has for more |
|---|
| 19 | 19 | | than 50 years benefited Texas women, their families, and indeed |
|---|
| 20 | 20 | | all Texans; it is truly deserving of special recognition for the |
|---|
| 21 | 21 | | profound impact it has had on the lives of the residents of this |
|---|
| 22 | 22 | | state; now, therefore, be it |
|---|
| 23 | 23 | | RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas, 86th |
|---|
| 24 | 24 | | Legislature, hereby commend the Governor's Commission for Women |
|---|
| 25 | 25 | | on its commitment to improving the lives of Texas women and |
|---|
| 26 | 26 | | extend to all associated with the commission best wishes as they |
|---|
| 27 | 27 | | celebrate the commission's accomplishments; and, be it further |
|---|
| 28 | 28 | | RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution be prepared for |
|---|
| 29 | 29 | | the commission as an expression of esteem from the Texas Senate. |
