| 2 | 2 | | WHEREAS, The Senate of the State of Texas is pleased to |

| 3 | 3 | | recognize the Military Ministry of Our Lady of Perpetual Help |

| 4 | 4 | | Catholic Church in Selma, Texas, a Christ-centered ministry of |
|---|
| 5 | 5 | | parishioners serving the spiritual and personal needs of members |
|---|
| 6 | 6 | | of the military, veterans, and their families; and |
|---|
| 7 | 7 | | WHEREAS, The Military Ministry was founded in July 2011 and |
|---|
| 8 | 8 | | now consists of more than 200 active members, composed of |
|---|
| 9 | 9 | | veterans and non-veterans alike; and |
|---|
| 10 | 10 | | WHEREAS, The Military Ministry participates in funerals of |
|---|
| 11 | 11 | | deceased parishioners who are veterans at the request of their |
|---|
| 12 | 12 | | families; and |
|---|
| 13 | 13 | | WHEREAS, The church recognizes all military personnel and |
|---|
| 14 | 14 | | their spouses at each Mass on the second weekend of the month, and |
|---|
| 15 | 15 | | they are honored at a fellowship social afterwards; and |
|---|
| 16 | 16 | | WHEREAS, The Military Ministry maintains a photographic |
|---|
| 17 | 17 | | recognition board, proudly displayed in the pastoral center, |
|---|
| 18 | 18 | | that depicts all members of the armed forces who are in some |
|---|
| 19 | 19 | | manner connected with the church; and |
|---|
| 20 | 20 | | WHEREAS, The ministry plays an active role in Veterans Day |
|---|
| 21 | 21 | | and Memorial Day programs in the greater San Antonio community; |
|---|
| 22 | 22 | | now, therefore, be it |
|---|
| 23 | 23 | | RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas, 86th |
|---|
| 24 | 24 | | Legislature, hereby congratulate Our Lady of Perpetual Help |

| 25 | 25 | | Catholic Church Military Ministry for its great success in |
|---|
| 26 | 26 | | serving the religious and spiritual needs of military members, |
|---|
| 27 | 27 | | veterans, and their families; and, be it further |
