| 2 | 2 | | WHEREAS, The Senate of the State of Texas is pleased to |

| 3 | 3 | | welcome members of the Texas Association for Home Care and |
|---|
| 4 | 4 | | Hospice and to recognize Home Care and Hospice Awareness Day; and |
|---|
| 5 | 5 | | WHEREAS, Home care services provide high quality and |
|---|
| 6 | 6 | | compassionate health care services to those in need and are |
|---|
| 7 | 7 | | especially helpful during community or individual health |
|---|
| 8 | 8 | | crises; and |
|---|
| 9 | 9 | | WHEREAS, Home care is the most preferred method of health |
|---|
| 10 | 10 | | care delivery among disabled, elderly, and chronically ill |
|---|
| 11 | 11 | | individuals who are eager to live independently in their own |
|---|
| 12 | 12 | | homes as long as they possibly can; and |
|---|
| 13 | 13 | | WHEREAS, Home care in Texas is a growing alternative to |
|---|
| 14 | 14 | | hospitalization or other institution-based forms of health care |
|---|
| 15 | 15 | | for those who suffer from acute and chronic illnesses; home care |
|---|
| 16 | 16 | | services are provided to hundreds of thousands of Texans each |
|---|
| 17 | 17 | | year; and |
|---|
| 18 | 18 | | WHEREAS, Hospice care provides humane and comforting |
|---|
| 19 | 19 | | support for terminally ill patients and their families; hospice |
|---|
| 20 | 20 | | care includes pain control, palliative medical care, and social, |
|---|
| 21 | 21 | | emotional, and spiritual services; and |
|---|
| 22 | 22 | | WHEREAS, Hospice fulfills the basic human need of feeling |
|---|
| 23 | 23 | | comfortable in familiar surroundings and of attaining physical |
|---|
| 24 | 24 | | and emotional peace during the last stage of life; and |
|---|
| 25 | 25 | | WHEREAS, There is a growing need to increase public |
|---|
| 26 | 26 | | discussion about the advances in pain control and the care |
|---|
| 27 | 27 | | options available to individuals of all ages, races, and |
|---|
| 28 | 28 | | backgrounds who are at the end of life; now, therefore, be it |
|---|
| 29 | 29 | | RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas, 86th |
|---|
| 30 | 30 | | Legislature, hereby proclaim March 13, 2019, Home Care and Hospice |
|---|
| 31 | 31 | | Awareness Day and encourage the support and participation of all |
|---|
| 32 | 32 | | citizens in learning more about home care and hospice care for the |
|---|
| 33 | 33 | | elderly, disabled, and the terminally ill. |
