| 5 | 5 | | WHEREAS, The Senate of the State of Texas honors and |

| 6 | 6 | | commemorates the life of Magdalena "Magda" Cordoba Hernandez |

| 7 | 7 | | Bennett, who died October 19, 2017, at the age of 45; and |
|---|
| 8 | 8 | | WHEREAS, Magda Bennett was born March 23, 1972, in Xalapa, |
|---|
| 9 | 9 | | Veracruz, Mexico, to Eduardo Cordoba and Martina Hernandez; and |
|---|
| 10 | 10 | | WHEREAS, A woman of many talents and interests, she pursued |
|---|
| 11 | 11 | | a number of professional paths, including nursing, radio, |
|---|
| 12 | 12 | | journalism, and marketing; shortly before immigrating to the |
|---|
| 13 | 13 | | United States in 2000, she embarked on a singing career with a |
|---|
| 14 | 14 | | group called Pequeno Sol; she was later the featured singer with |
|---|
| 15 | 15 | | her husband's group, the Sweet Satin Band; and |
|---|
| 16 | 16 | | WHEREAS, A woman of courage, strength, and generosity, she |
|---|
| 17 | 17 | | gave unselfishly to others, and her enthusiasm for living each |
|---|
| 18 | 18 | | day to the fullest will not be forgotten; and |
|---|
| 19 | 19 | | WHEREAS, She was a devoted wife, mother, and grandmother, |
|---|
| 20 | 20 | | and she leaves behind memories that will be treasured forever by |
|---|
| 21 | 21 | | her family and many friends; now, therefore, be it |
|---|
| 22 | 22 | | RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas, 86th |
|---|
| 23 | 23 | | Legislature, hereby extend sincere condolences to the bereaved |
|---|
| 24 | 24 | | family of Magdalena Cordoba Hernandez Bennett: her husband, Leo |
|---|
| 25 | 25 | | Bennett; the children, Emmanuel, Osiel, Nora, Yvette, Leah, |
|---|
| 26 | 26 | | Lynn, Daynis, Francisco, and Jose; and the 17 grandchildren; and, |
|---|
| 27 | 27 | | be it further |

| 28 | 28 | | RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution be prepared for |
