| 2 | 2 | | WHEREAS, The Senate of the State of Texas is pleased to |

| 3 | 3 | | recognize Helen Kleberg Groves for her professional success and |
|---|
| 4 | 4 | | her many contributions to the Lone Star State; and |
|---|
| 5 | 5 | | WHEREAS, Born in San Antonio, Helen Groves was raised on |
|---|
| 6 | 6 | | the famed King Ranch in Kingsville; she has devoted her career to |
|---|
| 7 | 7 | | the ranching and livestock industries and has further dedicated |
|---|
| 8 | 8 | | herself to working with numerous foundations; and |
|---|
| 9 | 9 | | WHEREAS, Helen served as the director of King Ranch, |
|---|
| 10 | 10 | | Incorporated, for more than 30 years, and she currently owns |
|---|
| 11 | 11 | | several Texas ranches and raises Santa Gertrudis and crossbred |
|---|
| 12 | 12 | | beef cattle as well as quarter horses and Thoroughbreds; she is |
|---|
| 13 | 13 | | well known for breeding and racing quarter horses of the King |
|---|
| 14 | 14 | | Ranch breeding line; and |
|---|
| 15 | 15 | | WHEREAS, A respected expert in her field, Helen has served |
|---|
| 16 | 16 | | in leadership roles for several major cutting horse |
|---|
| 17 | 17 | | associations, and she is the lifetime vice president of the Texas |
|---|
| 18 | 18 | | and Southwestern Cattle Raisers Association; she also currently |
|---|
| 19 | 19 | | serves as director for the Cowgirl Hall of Fame and Museum, the |
|---|
| 20 | 20 | | National Sporting Library and Museum, and the Robert J. Kleberg, |
|---|
| 21 | 21 | | Jr. and Helen C. Kleberg Foundation; and |
|---|
| 22 | 22 | | WHEREAS, Helen Groves is a steward of a proud legacy in the |
|---|
| 23 | 23 | | Lone Star State, and she is indeed deserving of recognition for |
|---|
| 24 | 24 | | her role in helping the cattle and ranching industries continue |
|---|
| 25 | 25 | | to thrive; now, therefore, be it |
|---|
| 26 | 26 | | RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas, 86th |
|---|
| 27 | 27 | | Legislature, hereby recognize Helen Kleberg Groves as a |
|---|
| 28 | 28 | | treasured citizen and commend her for her success in advancing a |
|---|
| 29 | 29 | | time-honored ranching tradition in Texas; and, be it further |
|---|
| 30 | 30 | | RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution be prepared for |

| 31 | 31 | | her as an expression of esteem from the Texas Senate. |
