SENATE RESOLUTION NO. 358 WHEREAS, The Senate of the State of Texas is pleased to recognize Jose F. Silva, owner of the Golden Corral in Harlingen, for his civic leadership and his many contributions to the community; and WHEREAS, As a Golden Corral franchise owner, Mr. Silva has remained focused on the company's guiding motto of "Building Business by Serving Others"; he consistently demonstrates a commitment to his community, and he and his staff have worked to raise thousands of dollars for nonprofit organizations and to provide direct outreach to vulnerable residents; and WHEREAS, Numerous charities have benefited from the generosity of Mr. Silva and his employees; the restaurant family has also prioritized support for military personnel and veterans by contributing to local veterans agencies and by paying tribute to those who have served by placing their names and photos on the restaurant's military Wall of Honor; and WHEREAS, The Harlingen Golden Corral was recognized with the Division 4 Community Involvement Award at the national 2018 convention, which took place in October in San Francisco; the restaurant was one of only four Golden Corrals in the nation to earn accolades for community service; now, therefore, be it RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas, 86th Legislature, hereby commend Jose F. Silva for exemplifying the highest ideals of a business leader and congratulate him on earning national recognition for his dedication to the Harlingen community; and, be it further RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution be prepared for him as an expression of esteem from the Texas Senate.
