| 2 | 2 | | WHEREAS, The Senate of the State of Texas is pleased to |

| 3 | 3 | | recognize Jose F. Silva, owner of the Golden Corral in Harlingen, |

| 4 | 4 | | for his civic leadership and his many contributions to the |
|---|
| 5 | 5 | | community; and |
|---|
| 6 | 6 | | WHEREAS, As a Golden Corral franchise owner, Mr. Silva has |
|---|
| 7 | 7 | | remained focused on the company's guiding motto of "Building |
|---|
| 8 | 8 | | Business by Serving Others"; he consistently demonstrates a |
|---|
| 9 | 9 | | commitment to his community, and he and his staff have worked to |
|---|
| 10 | 10 | | raise thousands of dollars for nonprofit organizations and to |
|---|
| 11 | 11 | | provide direct outreach to vulnerable residents; and |
|---|
| 12 | 12 | | WHEREAS, Numerous charities have benefited from the |
|---|
| 13 | 13 | | generosity of Mr. Silva and his employees; the restaurant family |
|---|
| 14 | 14 | | has also prioritized support for military personnel and veterans |
|---|
| 15 | 15 | | by contributing to local veterans agencies and by paying tribute |
|---|
| 16 | 16 | | to those who have served by placing their names and photos on the |
|---|
| 17 | 17 | | restaurant's military Wall of Honor; and |
|---|
| 18 | 18 | | WHEREAS, The Harlingen Golden Corral was recognized with |
|---|
| 19 | 19 | | the Division 4 Community Involvement Award at the national 2018 |
|---|
| 20 | 20 | | convention, which took place in October in San Francisco; the |
|---|
| 21 | 21 | | restaurant was one of only four Golden Corrals in the nation to |
|---|
| 22 | 22 | | earn accolades for community service; now, therefore, be it |
|---|
| 23 | 23 | | RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas, 86th |
|---|
| 24 | 24 | | Legislature, hereby commend Jose F. Silva for exemplifying the |
|---|
| 25 | 25 | | highest ideals of a business leader and congratulate him on |
|---|
| 26 | 26 | | earning national recognition for his dedication to the Harlingen |
|---|
| 27 | 27 | | community; and, be it further |
|---|
| 28 | 28 | | RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution be prepared for |

| 29 | 29 | | him as an expression of esteem from the Texas Senate. |
