| 2 | 2 | | WHEREAS, The Senate of the State of Texas is pleased to |

| 3 | 3 | | recognize the members of Warriors United in Arms for their many |
|---|
| 4 | 4 | | contributions to veterans in the Rio Grande Valley; and |
|---|
| 5 | 5 | | WHEREAS, Warriors United in Arms was founded by Tony Garcia |
|---|
| 6 | 6 | | in 2013; the organization's membership consists of local |
|---|
| 7 | 7 | | veterans who are committed to helping other veterans; and |
|---|
| 8 | 8 | | WHEREAS, Members improve the lives of area veterans by |
|---|
| 9 | 9 | | assisting them with job searches, helping them locate veterans' |
|---|
| 10 | 10 | | resources, and providing them with funds for medical expenses, |
|---|
| 11 | 11 | | food, utility assistance, or housing costs; the group also hosts |
|---|
| 12 | 12 | | monthly meetings to discuss civilian life and coping strategies |
|---|
| 13 | 13 | | for post-traumatic stress disorder; and |
|---|
| 14 | 14 | | WHEREAS, Warriors United in Arms is independently run and |
|---|
| 15 | 15 | | does not receive outside funding; members host community events |
|---|
| 16 | 16 | | to help raise funds and continue their mission of service; and |
|---|
| 17 | 17 | | WHEREAS, The veterans group is privileged to serve as |
|---|
| 18 | 18 | | guardian of the last American flag to fly over the American |
|---|
| 19 | 19 | | Embassy in Saigon, South Vietnam; recovered from a hostile mob, |
|---|
| 20 | 20 | | the flag is protected and preserved in honor of the 55,448 lives |
|---|
| 21 | 21 | | lost during the Vietnam War; and |
|---|
| 22 | 22 | | WHEREAS, Members of Warriors United in Arms continue to |
|---|
| 23 | 23 | | serve their country as military veterans, and they are indeed |
|---|
| 24 | 24 | | deserving of recognition for representing the highest ideals of |
|---|
| 25 | 25 | | patriotic service; now, therefore, be it |
|---|
| 26 | 26 | | RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas, 86th |
|---|
| 27 | 27 | | Legislature, hereby commend the members of Warriors United in |
|---|
| 28 | 28 | | Arms for connecting veterans with the resources they need to |
|---|
| 29 | 29 | | prosper after serving their country and extend to them best |
|---|
| 30 | 30 | | wishes for continued success; and, be it further |
|---|
| 31 | 31 | | RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution be prepared for |
|---|
| 32 | 32 | | them as an expression of esteem from the Texas Senate. |
