11 SENATE RESOLUTION NO. 361
22 WHEREAS, The Senate of the State of Texas is pleased to
33 recognize the members of Warriors United in Arms for their many
44 contributions to veterans in the Rio Grande Valley; and
55 WHEREAS, Warriors United in Arms was founded by Tony Garcia
66 in 2013; the organization's membership consists of local
77 veterans who are committed to helping other veterans; and
88 WHEREAS, Members improve the lives of area veterans by
99 assisting them with job searches, helping them locate veterans'
1010 resources, and providing them with funds for medical expenses,
1111 food, utility assistance, or housing costs; the group also hosts
1212 monthly meetings to discuss civilian life and coping strategies
1313 for post-traumatic stress disorder; and
1414 WHEREAS, Warriors United in Arms is independently run and
1515 does not receive outside funding; members host community events
1616 to help raise funds and continue their mission of service; and
1717 WHEREAS, The veterans group is privileged to serve as
1818 guardian of the last American flag to fly over the American
1919 Embassy in Saigon, South Vietnam; recovered from a hostile mob,
2020 the flag is protected and preserved in honor of the 55,448 lives
2121 lost during the Vietnam War; and
2222 WHEREAS, Members of Warriors United in Arms continue to
2323 serve their country as military veterans, and they are indeed
2424 deserving of recognition for representing the highest ideals of
2525 patriotic service; now, therefore, be it
2626 RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas, 86th
2727 Legislature, hereby commend the members of Warriors United in
2828 Arms for connecting veterans with the resources they need to
2929 prosper after serving their country and extend to them best
3030 wishes for continued success; and, be it further
3131 RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution be prepared for
3232 them as an expression of esteem from the Texas Senate.
