55 WHEREAS, A full and generous life drew to a close with the
66 death of Julius E. Fambry of The Colony on September 16, 2018, at
77 the age of 85; and
88 WHEREAS, The son of Emil and Marie Fambry, "Dewey" Fambry
99 was born in Ohio on October 21, 1932, and grew up with three
1010 siblings, Alice, Charles, and Loretta; he and his wife, Rosa Anna
1111 Fambry, shared a rewarding marriage that spanned 61 years until
1212 her passing, and he was the loving father of two daughters, Judi
1313 and Janet; later in life, he had the pleasure of welcoming into
1414 his family three grandchildren, Shane, Jeremy, and Chase, and a
1515 great-grandchild, Gunnar; and
1616 WHEREAS, Mr. Fambry enlisted in the United States Army in
1717 1949 and fought bravely in Vietnam, earning the Bronze Star and
1818 two Purple Hearts; in 1970, he retired at the rank of first
1919 sergeant following two decades of dedicated service; upon
2020 returning to civilian life, he joined Lincoln Technical
2121 Institute in Indianapolis, where he was quickly promoted to
2222 director and transferred to Texas to run the Dallas campus; after
2323 many years as a technical educator, he owned and operated an auto
2424 repair business; and
2525 WHEREAS, A proud veteran, Mr. Fambry was a founder and
2626 first commander of the American Legion Holley-Riddle Post
2727 No. 21, and he played a leading role in creating the Veterans
2828 Memorial at The Colony Five Star Complex; he was a life member of
2929 the Veterans of Foreign Wars, the Masons, Demolay, the American
3030 Legion, and the Military Order of the Purple Heart, and in 2011,
3131 he received the Congressional Veteran Commendation from United
3232 States Representative Michael Burgess; and
3333 WHEREAS, Mr. Fambry was also a highly competitive
3434 triathlete and marathoner, and he competed in three Duathlon
3535 World Championships, including one in the French city of Calais;
3636 he was active at The Colony Senior Center, where he taught
3737 computer skills, and he often enjoyed a beer in his garage while
3838 listening to Austrian polka music; and
3939 WHEREAS, A man with boundless energy and a mischievous
4040 spirit, Dewey Fambry devoted his life to his family, his
4141 community, and his nation, and he leaves behind a legacy that
4242 will continue to inspire all those who knew and loved him; now,
4343 therefore, be it
4444 RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas, 86th
4545 Legislature, hereby pay tribute to the memory of Julius E. Fambry
4646 and extend sincere condolences to his relatives and friends; and,
4747 be it further
4848 RESOLVED, That an official copy of this Resolution be
4949 prepared for his family and that when the Texas Senate adjourns
5050 this day, it do so in memory of Julius E. Fambry.
