| 3 | 3 | | Houston was awarded a $25,000 Bridging the Dream Scholarship from |

| 4 | 4 | | Sallie Mae in December 2018; and |

| 5 | 5 | | WHEREAS, The Bridging the Dream Scholarship recognizes |

| 6 | 6 | | high school juniors and seniors who have excelled both inside and |
|---|
| 7 | 7 | | outside the classroom while also exhibiting strength and |
|---|
| 8 | 8 | | perseverance in the face of great challenges; and |
|---|
| 9 | 9 | | WHEREAS, A senior at Westbury High, Ms. Duplechain is in |
|---|
| 10 | 10 | | the top five percent of her class with a grade point average of |
|---|
| 11 | 11 | | 3.95; in addition to taking Advanced Placement and dual-credit |
|---|
| 12 | 12 | | courses, she is a member of the National Honor Society, and she |
|---|
| 13 | 13 | | participates in cheerleading and track and field; following her |
|---|
| 14 | 14 | | graduation in May, she will become the first in her family to |
|---|
| 15 | 15 | | attend college, and she plans to pursue a career in physical |
|---|
| 16 | 16 | | therapy; and |
|---|
| 17 | 17 | | WHEREAS, A truly fitting recipient of this honor, Essence |

| 18 | 18 | | Duplechain has demonstrated exceptional ability and determination |
|---|
| 19 | 19 | | in working toward her goals, and she may indeed reflect with pride |

| 20 | 20 | | on all she has accomplished as she looks forward to a future bright |
