| 2 | 2 | | WHEREAS, The Senate of the State of Texas is pleased to |

| 3 | 3 | | join the Texas Academy of Physician Assistants and Texans across |

| 4 | 4 | | the state in celebrating March 18, 2019, as Physician Assistant |

| 5 | 5 | | Day at the Texas Capitol; and |

| 6 | 6 | | WHEREAS, Physician assistants are academically and |
|---|
| 7 | 7 | | clinically prepared medical professionals who diagnose illness, |
|---|
| 8 | 8 | | develop and manage treatment plans, and frequently serve as the |
|---|
| 9 | 9 | | principal health care provider; often patients' first point of |
|---|
| 10 | 10 | | contact, physician assistants are instrumental in providing |
|---|
| 11 | 11 | | quality, cost-effective, and accessible patient-centered health |
|---|
| 12 | 12 | | care; and |
|---|
| 13 | 13 | | WHEREAS, Vital members of the staff at hospitals and |
|---|
| 14 | 14 | | clinics, physician assistants play a vital role in helping |
|---|
| 15 | 15 | | patients understand their medical needs and in empowering them to |
|---|
| 16 | 16 | | become effective advocates for their own health; they are |
|---|
| 17 | 17 | | especially valuable contributors to quality health care outcomes |
|---|
| 18 | 18 | | in medically underserved and rural areas; and |
|---|
| 19 | 19 | | WHEREAS, Physician assistants have earned the public's |
|---|
| 20 | 20 | | respect for their dedication to the well-being and quality of |
|---|
| 21 | 21 | | life of their patients; it is truly fitting that a day be set |
|---|
| 22 | 22 | | aside to celebrate their countless contributions to the health |
|---|
| 23 | 23 | | and vitality of our state; now, therefore, be it |
|---|
| 24 | 24 | | RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas, 86th |
|---|
| 25 | 25 | | Legislature, hereby commend the state's physician assistants on |
|---|
| 26 | 26 | | their commitment to excellence in health care and extend to them |
|---|
| 27 | 27 | | best wishes for a productive and memorable Physician Assistant |
|---|
