1	1	SENATE RESOLUTION NO. 40
2	2	WHEREAS, The Senate of the State of Texas is pleased to
3	3	recognize the American Heart Association and to proclaim
4	4	February 1, 2019, National Wear Red Day in Texas; and
5	5	WHEREAS, The vast majority of cardiovascular diseases are
6	6	preventable, yet millions of women are affected by heart
7	7	conditions, and cardiovascular diseases are the number one
8	8	killer of women in the United States; and
9	9	WHEREAS, Risk factors for cardiovascular diseases include
10	10	high blood pressure, smoking, and high cholesterol, all of which
11	11	can be controlled with healthy lifestyle choices; and
12	12	WHEREAS, The American Heart Association established the Go
13	13	Red for Women movement to encourage women to take charge of their
14	14	heart health by learning their family health histories and by
15	15	meeting with their health care providers to determine their risk
16	16	factors for cardiovascular disease; and
17	17	WHEREAS, National Wear Red Day is an opportunity for Texans
18	18	to show their support for women and the ongoing fight against
19	19	heart disease; now, therefore, be it
20	20	RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas, 86th
21	21	Legislature, hereby urge citizens throughout the state to
22	22	express their support for women by observing National Wear Red
23	23	Day in Texas and commend all associated with the American Heart
24	24	Association for promoting the health of women; and, be it further
25	25	RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution be prepared in
26	26	honor of this important day.
