| 2 | 2 | | WHEREAS, The Senate of the State of Texas is pleased to |

| 3 | 3 | | recognize Inez Dorothy Young Gibson on the grand occasion of her |
|---|
| 4 | 4 | | 100th birthday; and |
|---|
| 5 | 5 | | WHEREAS, Inez Gibson was born on March 26, 1919; she grew up |
|---|
| 6 | 6 | | in Rockwall during the Jim Crow era, and she moved to Dallas and |
|---|
| 7 | 7 | | graduated with honors from Burnett High School in Terrell; and |
|---|
| 8 | 8 | | WHEREAS, She married T. D. Gibson Sr. on August 19, 1943, |
|---|
| 9 | 9 | | and the couple was blessed with four children, Marilyn Gibson, T. |
|---|
| 10 | 10 | | D. Gibson Jr., Michael Gibson, and Charmin Gibson; her 11 |
|---|
| 11 | 11 | | grandchildren and 17 great-grandchildren, who lovingly call her |
|---|
| 12 | 12 | | "Big Mama," are a source of much pride and joy for her; and |
|---|
| 13 | 13 | | WHEREAS, She enjoyed a long and fulfilling career as a |
|---|
| 14 | 14 | | licensed vocational nurse with Methodist Hospital; she has also |
|---|
| 15 | 15 | | been a civic activist and a volunteer with Warren Avenue |
|---|
| 16 | 16 | | Christian Church and with the Dallas Independent School |
|---|
| 17 | 17 | | District's Reading is Fundamental program; and |
|---|
| 18 | 18 | | WHEREAS, She has lived through times and experienced |
|---|
| 19 | 19 | | events that many people only know from history books, and there |
|---|
| 20 | 20 | | is much to be learned from the wisdom she has gained over the |
|---|
| 21 | 21 | | years; a beloved and respected member of her community, |
|---|
| 22 | 22 | | Mrs. Gibson is noted for her warmth, her wit, and her wise |
|---|
| 23 | 23 | | counsel, and she inspires those around her with her enthusiasm |
|---|
| 24 | 24 | | for living each day to the fullest; now, therefore, be it |
|---|
| 25 | 25 | | RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas, 86th |
|---|
| 26 | 26 | | Legislature, hereby pay tribute to Inez Dorothy Young Gibson and |
|---|
| 27 | 27 | | extend to her best wishes for an enjoyable 100th birthday |
|---|
| 28 | 28 | | celebration; and, be it further |

| 29 | 29 | | RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution be prepared for |
