| 5 | 5 | | in the Best Bluegrass Album category; and |

| 6 | 6 | | WHEREAS, Austin-based Wood and Wire formed in 2011 with |

| 7 | 7 | | songwriter and vocalist Tony Kamel, mandolin picker Billy |

| 8 | 8 | | Bright, banjoist Trevor Smith, and upright bassist Dominic |
|---|
| 9 | 9 | | Fisher, and the band was quickly recognized as an impressive |

| 10 | 10 | | force in bluegrass; and |
|---|
| 11 | 11 | | WHEREAS, The talented musicians gained a loyal fan base as |
|---|
| 12 | 12 | | regulars at the Old Settler's Music Fest, and they are known as |
|---|
| 13 | 13 | | the nucleus of the Monday night bluegrass residency at Radio |
|---|
| 14 | 14 | | Coffee and Beer, an event that highlights some of the state's |
|---|
| 15 | 15 | | most talented bluegrass performers; and |
|---|
| 16 | 16 | | WHEREAS, Wood and Wire has created a signature sound that |
|---|
| 17 | 17 | | melds hard-country songwriting and high-octane bluegrass |
|---|
| 18 | 18 | | instrumentation; the band members' vivid songwriting has been |
|---|
| 19 | 19 | | showcased on three full-length albums, two extended-play albums, |
|---|
| 20 | 20 | | and a live recording; and |
|---|
| 21 | 21 | | WHEREAS, Wood and Wire's Grammy-nominated album brings |
|---|
| 22 | 22 | | together contributions from each band member with songs that give |
|---|
| 23 | 23 | | a modern voice to their hardworking Texas ancestors; the band |

| 24 | 24 | | recorded the album at the Zone, a renowned studio located in the |

| 25 | 25 | | heart of the Texas Hill Country; and |
|---|
| 26 | 26 | | WHEREAS, North of Despair is a truly remarkable album that |

| 27 | 27 | | honors proud traditions in Americana bluegrass while offering a |
|---|
| 28 | 28 | | lively new vision for Texas music, and it is indeed fitting that it |

| 29 | 29 | | has brought Wood and Wire national acclaim; now, therefore, be it |

| 30 | 30 | | RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas, 86th |

| 31 | 31 | | Legislature, hereby recognize the members of Wood and Wire as |

| 32 | 32 | | treasured citizens of the Lone Star State and congratulate them |

| 33 | 33 | | on their 2018 Grammy Award nomination for Best Bluegrass Album; |
