| 2 | 2 | | WHEREAS, The Senate of the State of Texas is pleased to |

| 3 | 3 | | recognize Macedonia Missionary Baptist Church on the occasion of |

| 4 | 4 | | its 121st anniversary; and |
|---|
| 5 | 5 | | WHEREAS, Macedonia Missionary Baptist Church was organized |
|---|
| 6 | 6 | | in 1899 in the Freedmantown community in Houston; formerly known |
|---|
| 7 | 7 | | as Shiloh Missionary Baptist Church, the congregation was |
|---|
| 8 | 8 | | officially incorporated as a church in 1912, when it also |
|---|
| 9 | 9 | | constructed its first building on Ruthven Street; and |
|---|
| 10 | 10 | | WHEREAS, Later, the church purchased another site on |
|---|
| 11 | 11 | | Ruthven Street, and in 1950, it erected a two-story wooden |
|---|
| 12 | 12 | | structure near its original home; under the guidance and |
|---|
| 13 | 13 | | stewardship of its pastors, the church has continued to grow |
|---|
| 14 | 14 | | through the years and to play a vital role in the life of the |
|---|
| 15 | 15 | | community; and |
|---|
| 16 | 16 | | WHEREAS, The church has been an invaluable source of |
|---|
| 17 | 17 | | strength for its members in times of hardship and bereavement and |
|---|
| 18 | 18 | | a place of inspirational fellowship in times of abundance; and |
|---|
| 19 | 19 | | WHEREAS, The celebration of the church's 121st anniversary |
|---|
| 20 | 20 | | is an opportunity for all to reflect on its rich heritage and on |
|---|
| 21 | 21 | | the ministries it has established to the benefit of its members |
|---|
| 22 | 22 | | and the community; now, therefore, be it |
|---|
| 23 | 23 | | RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas, 86th |
|---|
| 24 | 24 | | Legislature, hereby extend best wishes to the clergy and members |
|---|
| 25 | 25 | | of Macedonia Missionary Baptist Church on the joyous occasion of |
|---|
| 26 | 26 | | its 121st anniversary; and, be it further |
|---|
| 27 | 27 | | RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution be prepared for |
|---|
| 28 | 28 | | the church as an expression of esteem from the Texas Senate. |
