| 4 | 4 | | Way Computer Science Teacher of the Year; and |

| 5 | 5 | | WHEREAS, Project Lead The Way is a nonprofit organization |

| 6 | 6 | | that develops programs for teaching science, technology, |
|---|
| 7 | 7 | | engineering, and mathematics skills in schools from |
|---|
| 8 | 8 | | prekindergarten through high school; and |
|---|
| 9 | 9 | | WHEREAS, The organization's prestigious merit-based |
|---|
| 10 | 10 | | Teacher of the Year awards honor educators for their exceptional |
|---|
| 11 | 11 | | commitment to their students, for demonstrated school |
|---|
| 12 | 12 | | leadership, and for meaningful involvement in Project Lead The |
|---|
| 13 | 13 | | Way curriculum, assessment, and professional development; and |
|---|
| 14 | 14 | | WHEREAS, Susan Jones is a faculty member at Midway High |
|---|
| 15 | 15 | | School in the Midway Independent School District in McLennan |
|---|
| 16 | 16 | | County; over the course of her time as a computer science |
|---|
| 17 | 17 | | teacher, she has demonstrated a passion for helping her students |
|---|
| 18 | 18 | | think progressively in order to better compete in today's |
|---|
| 19 | 19 | | technologically complex world; and |
|---|
| 20 | 20 | | WHEREAS, She has worked diligently to create a new set of |
|---|
| 21 | 21 | | classes at Midway High School to implement the Project Lead The |
|---|
| 22 | 22 | | Way curriculum; the popularity of those classes is a testament to |
|---|
| 23 | 23 | | her resourcefulness and her skillful teaching methods; and |
|---|
| 24 | 24 | | WHEREAS, Susan Jones has played a vital role in preparing |
|---|
| 25 | 25 | | her students to succeed and thrive, and it is truly fitting that |
|---|
| 26 | 26 | | she receive special recognition; now, therefore, be it |
|---|
| 27 | 27 | | RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas, 86th |
|---|
| 28 | 28 | | Legislature, hereby commend Susan Jones on her commitment to |

| 29 | 29 | | excellence in education and extend to her congratulations on |
|---|
| 30 | 30 | | receiving the Project Lead The Way Computer Science Teacher of |
