| 5 | 5 | | WHEREAS, The Senate of the State of Texas joins the |
|---|
| 6 | 6 | | citizens of Amarillo in mourning the loss of Jimmie Ray Bridges, |
|---|
| 7 | 7 | | who died February 22, 2018, at the age of 74; and |
|---|
| 8 | 8 | | WHEREAS, Born November 26, 1943, in Hereford, Texas, |
|---|
| 9 | 9 | | Jimmie Bridges was a man of natural charm and sharp wit, and he |
|---|
| 10 | 10 | | was admired by friends for the compassion he consistently showed |
|---|
| 11 | 11 | | to those who were struggling; and |
|---|
| 12 | 12 | | WHEREAS, Jimmie served with distinction for three years in |
|---|
| 13 | 13 | | the United States Army; he loved the military and enjoyed |
|---|
| 14 | 14 | | traveling to different parts of the country and the world; he |
|---|
| 15 | 15 | | actively supported his fellow veterans throughout his life; and |
|---|
| 16 | 16 | | WHEREAS, Jimmie was a highly skilled mechanic, and his |
|---|
| 17 | 17 | | loved ones often joked about his ability to walk into a wrecking |
|---|
| 18 | 18 | | yard and drive out with a working car; he later developed a talent |
|---|
| 19 | 19 | | for working on computers, and he gave generously of his time |
|---|
| 20 | 20 | | repairing and building cars and computers for friends or people |
|---|
| 21 | 21 | | in need; and |
|---|
| 22 | 22 | | WHEREAS, Jimmie worked for 25 years as a manager and |
|---|
| 23 | 23 | | maintenance technician at the Fountain Terrace Apartments in |
|---|
| 24 | 24 | | Amarillo, and he was a longtime and active member of Christian |
|---|
| 25 | 25 | | Heritage Church; he looked forward to riding his motorcycle with |
|---|
| 26 | 26 | | his fellow Christian bikers, and later in life, he enjoyed |
|---|
| 27 | 27 | | spending time at auctions and gun shows; and |
|---|
| 28 | 28 | | WHEREAS, A devoted father to his daughter, Shalyn Bridges, |
|---|
| 29 | 29 | | and a cherished friend to many, Jimmie Bridges enriched the lives |
|---|
| 30 | 30 | | of those who knew him through his youthful spirit, his warm and |
|---|
| 31 | 31 | | ready smile, and his boundless generosity; he was beloved by many, |
|---|
| 32 | 32 | | and he will long be remembered with respect and admiration by all |
|---|
| 33 | 33 | | who were privileged to share in his life; now, therefore, be it |
|---|
| 34 | 34 | | RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas, 86th |
|---|
| 35 | 35 | | Legislature, hereby extend sincere condolences to the bereaved |
|---|
| 36 | 36 | | family of Jimmie Ray Bridges; and, be it further |
|---|
| 37 | 37 | | RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution be prepared for |
|---|
| 38 | 38 | | his family as an expression of deepest sympathy from the Texas |
|---|
| 39 | 39 | | Senate and that when the Senate adjourns this day, it do so in |
