| 2 | 2 | | WHEREAS, August 24, 2019, marks the 75th wedding anniversary |
|---|
| 3 | 3 | | of C. W. and Louise Elston of Mineola, and this joyous event |
|---|
| 4 | 4 | | provides a fitting opportunity to reflect on their rewarding |
|---|
| 5 | 5 | | journey together as husband and wife; and |
|---|
| 6 | 6 | | WHEREAS, "Bill" Elston and the former Louise Dawson were |
|---|
| 7 | 7 | | joined in matrimony in 1944 at the First Methodist Church in |
|---|
| 8 | 8 | | Canton, Illinois; shortly after exchanging vows, the newlyweds |
|---|
| 9 | 9 | | were separated for nearly two years while Mr. Elston served in |
|---|
| 10 | 10 | | the United States Army during World War II; and |
|---|
| 11 | 11 | | WHEREAS, The couple moved to Texas in 1959; a retired |
|---|
| 12 | 12 | | accountant, Mr. Elston ran an income tax and bookkeeping |
|---|
| 13 | 13 | | business for many years, and he also worked for the IRS as an |
|---|
| 14 | 14 | | auditor; he and his wife are both valued congregants of the First |
|---|
| 15 | 15 | | United Methodist Church in Mineola, where they have made their |
|---|
| 16 | 16 | | home since 1996; and |
|---|
| 17 | 17 | | WHEREAS, Now in their nineties, Mr. and Mrs. Elston take |
|---|
| 18 | 18 | | great pride in a fine family that in addition to their 3 children, |
|---|
| 19 | 19 | | Betsy, Richard, and Robin, today includes 7 grandchildren and 13 |
|---|
| 20 | 20 | | great-grandchildren; and |
|---|
| 21 | 21 | | WHEREAS, The seven and a half decades of marriage that |
|---|
| 22 | 22 | | Mr. and Mrs. Elston have shared is eloquent affirmation of the |
|---|
| 23 | 23 | | meaning of love and commitment, and their enduring union is an |
|---|
| 24 | 24 | | inspiration to all who know them; now, therefore, be it |
|---|
| 25 | 25 | | RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas, 86th |
|---|
| 26 | 26 | | Legislature, hereby congratulate C. W. and Louise Elston on |
|---|
| 27 | 27 | | their 75th wedding anniversary and extend to them sincere best |
|---|
| 28 | 28 | | wishes for continued happiness; and, be it further |

| 29 | 29 | | RESOLVED, That an official copy of this Resolution be |
