4	4	Nestor Garza Jr.
5	5	WHEREAS, The Senate of the State of Texas honors and
6	6	commemorates the life of Nestor Garza Jr., who died
7	7	February 15, 2018, at the age of 89; and
8	8	WHEREAS, Nestor Garza was an exemplary citizen who was
9	9	respected and admired in his community for his hard work and his
10	10	achievements; and
11	11	WHEREAS, Born in El Capote, Mr. Garza grew up and spent his
12	12	life in Pharr; he and his beloved wife, Esperanza P. Garza,
13	13	married on November 27, 1955, and they enjoyed 62 years of
14	14	marriage together; he was a longtime member of Saint Anne, Mother
15	15	of Mary Catholic Church; and
16	16	WHEREAS, Mr. Garza was a steadfast believer in the importance
17	17	of education and did everything within his power to ensure that his
18	18	children, Nestor Garza III, Raul Garza, Maricela Cortez, Graciela
19	19	Vela, and Roberto Garza, were able to meet their educational goals;
20	20	his 14 grandchildren and his great-granddaughter were a source of
21	21	much pride and joy for him; and
22	22	WHEREAS, A man of courage, strength, and generosity, he
23	23	gave unselfishly to others, and his wisdom, warmth, and valued
24	24	counsel will not be forgotten by those who were privileged to
25	25	share in his life; and
26	26	WHEREAS, He was a devoted husband, father, and
27	27	grandfather, and he leaves behind memories that will be cherished
28	28	forever by his family and many friends; now, therefore, be it
29	29	RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas, 86th
30	30	Legislature, hereby extend sincere condolences to the bereaved
31	31	family of Nestor Garza Jr.; and, be it further
32	32	RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution be prepared for
33	33	his family as an expression of deepest sympathy from the Texas
34	34	Senate and that when the Senate adjourns this day, it do so in
35	35	memory of Nestor Garza Jr.
