| 2 | 2 | | WHEREAS, The Texas Sports Hall of Fame is recognizing the |

| 3 | 3 | | exceptional accomplishments of its 2019 inductees at a ceremony |

| 4 | 4 | | on March 30 in Waco; and |
|---|
| 5 | 5 | | WHEREAS, Since inducting its first member in 1951, the |
|---|
| 6 | 6 | | Texas Sports Hall of Fame has honored the athletic careers of |
|---|
| 7 | 7 | | more than 300 men and women; in 1993, the institution opened a |
|---|
| 8 | 8 | | museum in Waco to chronicle the lives of these legendary |
|---|
| 9 | 9 | | individuals and to preserve the history of sports in Texas for |
|---|
| 10 | 10 | | present and future generations; and |
|---|
| 11 | 11 | | WHEREAS, The hall of fame's Class of 2019 is made up of |
|---|
| 12 | 12 | | seven exemplary athletes: the late professional tennis star |
|---|
| 13 | 13 | | Maureen Connolly Brinker, former Texas A&M University and |
|---|
| 14 | 14 | | National Football League placekicker Tony Franklin, former |
|---|
| 15 | 15 | | Houston Texans wide receiver Andre Johnson, pioneering |
|---|
| 16 | 16 | | professional basketball player and coach Nancy Lieberman, former |
|---|
| 17 | 17 | | University of Arkansas football player Loyd Phillips, former |
|---|
| 18 | 18 | | University of Texas and Major League Baseball pitcher Greg |

| 19 | 19 | | Swindell, and retired Dallas Cowboys All-Pro tight end Jason |

| 20 | 20 | | Witten; and |
|---|
| 21 | 21 | | WHEREAS, Through their outstanding skill and dedication, |

| 22 | 22 | | these esteemed Texans have furthered the proud tradition of |

| 23 | 23 | | athletic excellence in the Lone Star State, and they are indeed |

| 24 | 24 | | deserving of this prestigious honor; now, therefore, be it |

| 25 | 25 | | RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas, 86th |

| 26 | 26 | | Legislature, hereby recognize the 2019 inductees of the Texas |
