| 2 | 2 | | WHEREAS, The Senate of the State of Texas is pleased to |

| 3 | 3 | | recognize the annual Covington Volunteer Fire Department BBQ |

| 5 | 5 | | WHEREAS, The Covington Volunteer Fire Department BBQ |

| 6 | 6 | | Cook-off is held the first weekend of May at the Covington |
|---|
| 7 | 7 | | Volunteer Fire Station and attracts participants from across the |
|---|
| 8 | 8 | | region; and |
|---|
| 9 | 9 | | WHEREAS, This highly anticipated annual event is sponsored |
|---|
| 10 | 10 | | by the Covington Volunteer Fire Department and is sanctioned by |
|---|
| 11 | 11 | | the International Barbeque Cookers Association as one of the |
|---|
| 12 | 12 | | organization's annual state cook-offs; and |
|---|
| 13 | 13 | | WHEREAS, Proceeds from the competition benefit the |
|---|
| 14 | 14 | | Covington Volunteer Fire Department and provide for training, |
|---|
| 15 | 15 | | protective equipment, and equipment maintenance, all of which |
|---|
| 16 | 16 | | allow fire department members to better serve the community; and |
|---|
| 17 | 17 | | WHEREAS, Texans are noted for their affinity for barbecue |
|---|
| 18 | 18 | | and for their competitive spirit, and the Covington Volunteer |
|---|
| 19 | 19 | | Fire Department BBQ Cook-off provides visitors with the |
|---|
| 20 | 20 | | opportunity to sample the wares of some of the best chefs in the |
|---|
| 21 | 21 | | state; now, therefore, be it |
|---|
| 22 | 22 | | RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas, 86th |
|---|
| 23 | 23 | | Legislature, hereby commend the sponsors of and the participants |
|---|
| 24 | 24 | | in the annual Covington Volunteer Fire Department BBQ Cook-off on |
|---|
| 25 | 25 | | their hard work and dedication and extend to them best wishes for |
|---|
| 26 | 26 | | a successful event; and, be it further |
|---|
| 27 | 27 | | RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution be prepared in |
