55 WHEREAS, The Senate of the State of Texas honors and
66 commemorates the life of Jerry Don Lambright, who died
77 March 9, 2019, at the age of 69; and
88 WHEREAS, J. D. Lambright was born to Bill and Frances
99 Lambright on October 25, 1949, and he grew up in the West Texas
1010 town of Pampa; and
1111 WHEREAS, He earned both bachelor and master of science
1212 degrees in electrical engineering from Texas Tech University,
1313 and he went on to earn a law degree from South Texas College of
1414 Law; and
1515 WHEREAS, J. D. devoted the first 25 years of his career to
1616 working as a geophysicist and electrical engineer for Shell Oil
1717 Company and Shell Exploration and Production Technology
1818 Company in Houston; after retiring from Shell, he opened his
1919 own law firm in Conroe, and over the course of 13 years in
2020 private practice, he handled a variety of civil, family,
2121 criminal, and probate cases; and
2222 WHEREAS, Mr. Lambright contributed to the Montgomery
2323 County community in myriad ways, and he served three terms on the
2424 Montgomery County Bar Association Board of Directors; he was an
2525 esteemed civic leader who was widely respected for his forthright
2626 manner, his conscientious devotion to duty, and his commitment to
2727 ethical principles; and
2828 WHEREAS, With a desire to serve in a broader capacity, he
2929 sought the office of county attorney, and he was elected by the
3030 voters of Montgomery County in 2012; he worked hard to make the
3131 office more responsive and more effective, and he was sworn in
3232 for his second term in office on January 1, 2017; and
3333 WHEREAS, During his tenure of leadership, the Montgomery
3434 County Attorney's Office was recognized three times as the
3535 county's Department of the Year, and in 2014 and 2015,
3636 Mr. Lambright was honored as the county's Boss of the Year; and
3737 WHEREAS, J. D. shared more than four decades of marriage
3838 with his high school sweetheart, Belinda Lambright, and they made
3939 many lasting memories riding motorcycles and attending
4040 professional bull riding events together; and
4141 WHEREAS, J. D. Lambright was a revered citizen and a
4242 treasured friend to many, and he leaves behind a legacy of
4343 integrity and selfless service; now, therefore, be it
4444 RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas, 86th
4545 Legislature, hereby extend sincere condolences to the bereaved
4646 family of Jerry Don Lambright; and, be it further
4747 RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution be prepared for
4848 his family as an expression of deepest sympathy from the Texas
4949 Senate and that when the Senate adjourns this day, it do so in
5050 memory of J. D. Lambright.
