5 | 5 | | WHEREAS, The Senate of the State of Texas honors and |

6 | 6 | | commemorates the life of Jerry Don Lambright, who died |
---|
7 | 7 | | March 9, 2019, at the age of 69; and |
---|
8 | 8 | | WHEREAS, J. D. Lambright was born to Bill and Frances |
---|
9 | 9 | | Lambright on October 25, 1949, and he grew up in the West Texas |
---|
10 | 10 | | town of Pampa; and |
---|
11 | 11 | | WHEREAS, He earned both bachelor and master of science |
---|
12 | 12 | | degrees in electrical engineering from Texas Tech University, |
---|
13 | 13 | | and he went on to earn a law degree from South Texas College of |
---|
14 | 14 | | Law; and |
---|
15 | 15 | | WHEREAS, J. D. devoted the first 25 years of his career to |
---|
16 | 16 | | working as a geophysicist and electrical engineer for Shell Oil |
---|
17 | 17 | | Company and Shell Exploration and Production Technology |
---|
18 | 18 | | Company in Houston; after retiring from Shell, he opened his |
---|
19 | 19 | | own law firm in Conroe, and over the course of 13 years in |
---|
20 | 20 | | private practice, he handled a variety of civil, family, |
---|
21 | 21 | | criminal, and probate cases; and |
---|
22 | 22 | | WHEREAS, Mr. Lambright contributed to the Montgomery |
---|
23 | 23 | | County community in myriad ways, and he served three terms on the |
---|
24 | 24 | | Montgomery County Bar Association Board of Directors; he was an |
---|
25 | 25 | | esteemed civic leader who was widely respected for his forthright |
---|
26 | 26 | | manner, his conscientious devotion to duty, and his commitment to |
---|
27 | 27 | | ethical principles; and |
---|
28 | 28 | | WHEREAS, With a desire to serve in a broader capacity, he |
---|
29 | 29 | | sought the office of county attorney, and he was elected by the |
---|
30 | 30 | | voters of Montgomery County in 2012; he worked hard to make the |
---|
31 | 31 | | office more responsive and more effective, and he was sworn in |
---|
32 | 32 | | for his second term in office on January 1, 2017; and |
---|
33 | 33 | | WHEREAS, During his tenure of leadership, the Montgomery |
---|
34 | 34 | | County Attorney's Office was recognized three times as the |
---|
35 | 35 | | county's Department of the Year, and in 2014 and 2015, |
---|
36 | 36 | | Mr. Lambright was honored as the county's Boss of the Year; and |
---|
37 | 37 | | WHEREAS, J. D. shared more than four decades of marriage |
---|
38 | 38 | | with his high school sweetheart, Belinda Lambright, and they made |
---|
39 | 39 | | many lasting memories riding motorcycles and attending |
---|
40 | 40 | | professional bull riding events together; and |
---|
41 | 41 | | WHEREAS, J. D. Lambright was a revered citizen and a |
---|
42 | 42 | | treasured friend to many, and he leaves behind a legacy of |
---|
43 | 43 | | integrity and selfless service; now, therefore, be it |
---|
44 | 44 | | RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas, 86th |
---|
45 | 45 | | Legislature, hereby extend sincere condolences to the bereaved |
---|
46 | 46 | | family of Jerry Don Lambright; and, be it further |
---|
47 | 47 | | RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution be prepared for |
---|
48 | 48 | | his family as an expression of deepest sympathy from the Texas |
---|
49 | 49 | | Senate and that when the Senate adjourns this day, it do so in |
---|
50 | 50 | | memory of J. D. Lambright. |
