11 SENATE RESOLUTION NO. 466
22 WHEREAS, The Professional Golfers' Association of America
33 is moving its headquarters to Frisco; and
44 WHEREAS, The result of a groundbreaking public-private
55 agreement, the new 100,000-square-foot headquarters will anchor
66 a 600-acre, mixed-use development that is expected to bring more
77 than $2.5 billion into the region's economy over the next 20
88 years; in addition to the PGA and the City of Frisco, other
99 stakeholders who contributed to the agreement include the city's
1010 economic and community development corporations, the board of
1111 the Frisco Independent School District, and the Omni Stillwater
1212 Woods partnership; and
1313 WHEREAS, The complex will be home to two championship golf
1414 courses, a short course, and practice areas totaling 45 holes, as
1515 well as a clubhouse; scheduled to open in 2022, the courses will
1616 host several PGA championship tournaments, including the
1717 KitchenAid Senior PGA Championship in 2023; moreover, the complex
1818 will include a 500-room Omni Hotel resort, a 127,000-square-foot
1919 conference center, a state-of-the-art retail village, parks and
2020 open space, and several miles of walking trails; and
2121 WHEREAS, Rated by Money magazine in 2018 as the "Best Place
2222 to Live" in the nation, Frisco is thriving, and this new addition
2323 to the city promises to make significant contributions to the
2424 community; now, therefore, be it
2525 RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas, 86th
2626 Legislature, hereby congratulate Frisco for becoming the new
2727 national headquarters of the Professional Golfers' Association of
2828 America and extend to the city's officials and other stakeholders
2929 sincere best wishes for the success of this exciting project.
