2 | 2 | | WHEREAS, The retirement of Bruce Glasscock as Plano city |

3 | 3 | | manager in April 2019 offers a fitting opportunity to reflect on |

4 | 4 | | his outstanding 50-year career in public service; and |

5 | 5 | | WHEREAS, Mr. Glasscock began working with the City of Plano |
---|
6 | 6 | | in 1990 as chief of police; he went on to serve as the deputy city |
---|
7 | 7 | | manager, and in 2011, he was appointed city manager; in the course |
---|
8 | 8 | | of his exemplary tenure, he has played a vital role in the |
---|
9 | 9 | | development of the Legacy West area and in the urban |
---|
10 | 10 | | revitalization of Plano's downtown; under his guidance, the city |
---|
11 | 11 | | has garnered numerous awards and recognitions, including being |
---|
12 | 12 | | named the Best Place to Live in Texas, the Best Run City in |
---|
13 | 13 | | America, and one of the 10 Healthiest Cities in America; moreover, |
---|
14 | 14 | | Plano earned a 4-STAR Community Rating for Sustainability and has |
---|
15 | 15 | | consistently received AAA bond ratings; and |
---|
16 | 16 | | WHEREAS, Deeply devoted to his community, Mr. Glasscock |
---|
17 | 17 | | has given generously of his time and talents to the boards of the |
---|
18 | 18 | | Children's Advocacy Center of Collin County, Rape Crisis Center |
---|
19 | 19 | | of Collin County, Texas Municipal League, and Special Olympics of |
---|
20 | 20 | | Texas; in addition, he is past president of the International |
---|
21 | 21 | | Association of Chiefs of Police; he holds a bachelor's degree in |
---|
22 | 22 | | criminal justice management from Metropolitan State College of |
---|
23 | 23 | | Denver and a master's degree in public administration from the |
---|
24 | 24 | | University of Colorado at Denver; and |
---|
25 | 25 | | WHEREAS, Bruce Glasscock's adept leadership has helped |
---|
26 | 26 | | guide Plano through a transformative period in its history, and |
---|
27 | 27 | | his dedicated efforts have earned him the lasting respect and |
---|
28 | 28 | | admiration of countless area residents; now, therefore, be it |
---|
29 | 29 | | RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas, 86th |
---|
30 | 30 | | Legislature, hereby congratulate Bruce Glasscock on his |
---|
31 | 31 | | retirement as Plano city manager and extend to him sincere best |
---|
32 | 32 | | wishes for the future; and, be it further |

33 | 33 | | RESOLVED, That an official copy of this Resolution be |
