|---|
| 6 | 6 | | WHEREAS, Officially established in 1988, the Texas |

| 7 | 7 | | Association of African American Chambers of Commerce can trace |
|---|
| 8 | 8 | | its roots to the 1920s, when the Dallas Negro Chamber of Commerce |
|---|
| 9 | 9 | | was formed to facilitate the participation of African American |
|---|
| 10 | 10 | | business owners in the economic mainstream; today, the |
|---|
| 11 | 11 | | association is a statewide network of African American chambers |
|---|
| 12 | 12 | | of commerce, representing more than 10,000 members and serving as |
|---|
| 13 | 13 | | the voice for over 200,000 businesses; and |
|---|
| 14 | 14 | | WHEREAS, The association educates members about laws and |
|---|
| 15 | 15 | | regulations that could impact businesses, and it works within the |
|---|
| 16 | 16 | | legislative process to ensure equal opportunities for African |
|---|
| 17 | 17 | | American enterprises; moreover, it coordinates with leaders in |
|---|
| 18 | 18 | | government and the corporate world to encourage diversity and |
|---|
| 19 | 19 | | inclusiveness, and it supports policies that promote economic |
|---|
| 20 | 20 | | mobility for all Texans; and |
|---|
| 21 | 21 | | WHEREAS, Through its outstanding advocacy in behalf of |

| 22 | 22 | | African American entrepreneurs, the Texas Association of African |
|---|
| 23 | 23 | | American Chambers of Commerce is contributing to the continued |
|---|
| 24 | 24 | | prosperity and vitality of the Lone Star State; now, therefore, |

| 26 | 26 | | RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas, 86th |
