| 2 | 2 | | WHEREAS, Micheal Brown, a senior at Lamar High School in |

| 3 | 3 | | Houston, has been rewarded for his stellar academic |

| 4 | 4 | | accomplishments by earning full-ride scholarships to 20 |
|---|
| 5 | 5 | | colleges, including a number of Ivy League universities; and |
|---|
| 6 | 6 | | WHEREAS, This outstanding young Texan gained admittance to |
|---|
| 7 | 7 | | such institutions as Yale, Princeton, Northwestern, Johns |
|---|
| 8 | 8 | | Hopkins, and Harvard Universities, along with his longtime dream |
|---|
| 9 | 9 | | school, Stanford University; he can look forward to having his |
|---|
| 10 | 10 | | tuition fully covered at whichever institution he chooses; |
|---|
| 11 | 11 | | moreover, he has been awarded an additional $260,000 in other |
|---|
| 12 | 12 | | scholarship funds; and |
|---|
| 13 | 13 | | WHEREAS, Mr. Brown has distinguished himself by earning a |
|---|
| 14 | 14 | | GPA of 4.68 and near-perfect SAT and ACT scores of 1540 and 34, |
|---|
| 15 | 15 | | respectively; in addition to excelling academically, he has |
|---|
| 16 | 16 | | maintained a schedule of extracurricular activities that has |
|---|
| 17 | 17 | | included involvement in the debate program, the Key Club, student |
|---|
| 18 | 18 | | government, and tennis; he credits his success to the support and |
|---|
| 19 | 19 | | encouragement of his classmates, his teachers and counselors, |
|---|
| 20 | 20 | | and his mother, Berthinia Rutledge-Brown, who has inspired him to |
|---|
| 21 | 21 | | keep pushing himself to greater heights; and |
|---|
| 22 | 22 | | WHEREAS, Micheal Brown has proven himself to be a young man |
|---|
| 23 | 23 | | of remarkable intellect, character, and perseverance in the |
|---|
| 24 | 24 | | pursuit of his goals, and it is a pleasure to join his family and |
|---|
| 25 | 25 | | friends in recognizing him as he embarks on a future bright with |
|---|
| 26 | 26 | | promise; now, therefore, be it |

| 27 | 27 | | RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas, 86th |

| 28 | 28 | | Legislature, hereby congratulate Micheal Brown on earning |
