| 3 | 3 | | March 26, 2019, to celebrate Deer Park Day at the State |

| 4 | 4 | | Capitol; and |

| 5 | 5 | | WHEREAS, Deer Park, which was founded in 1892 by Simeon |

| 6 | 6 | | Henry West, is home to the "Birthplace of Texas," the log cabin |
|---|
| 7 | 7 | | where Sam Houston drafted the treaty that secured the |
|---|
| 8 | 8 | | independence of Texas after the Battle of San Jacinto; and |
|---|
| 9 | 9 | | WHEREAS, The community began to flourish in the late 1940s, |
|---|
| 10 | 10 | | and in recent years, it has been ranked as one of the 50 safest |
|---|
| 11 | 11 | | Texas cities by SafeWise.com and as one of the top 25 cities in |
|---|
| 12 | 12 | | the United States for affordable homes by CNN Money; and |
|---|
| 13 | 13 | | WHEREAS, With its proximity to Houston, Deer Park has easy |
|---|
| 14 | 14 | | access to major airports, professional sports teams, and |
|---|
| 15 | 15 | | excellent colleges, and it has been recognized for its green |
|---|
| 16 | 16 | | space, low crime rates, short commute times, and outstanding |
|---|
| 17 | 17 | | public education system; and |
|---|
| 18 | 18 | | WHEREAS, Celebrating their heritage as they work to build a |
|---|
| 19 | 19 | | bright future, the people of Deer Park may take great pride in the |
|---|
| 20 | 20 | | role their community continues to play in the story of the Lone |
|---|
| 21 | 21 | | Star State; now, therefore, be it |
|---|
| 22 | 22 | | RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas, 86th |
|---|
| 23 | 23 | | Legislature, hereby recognize March 26, 2019, as Deer Park Day at |

| 24 | 24 | | the State Capitol and extend to the visiting delegation sincere |
