| 2 | 2 | | WHEREAS, The Senate of the State of Texas is pleased to |

| 3 | 3 | | recognize the Hidalgo County Drainage District 1, which |

| 4 | 4 | | dedicated the new Oscar L. Garza Jr. administration building in |
|---|
| 5 | 5 | | Edinburg on March 7, 2019; and |
|---|
| 6 | 6 | | WHEREAS, Residents and local leaders in Hidalgo County |
|---|
| 7 | 7 | | recently gathered for the ribbon-cutting ceremony for Drainage |
|---|
| 8 | 8 | | District's new administrative offices; the building honors the |
|---|
| 9 | 9 | | late Oscar Garza, who was a treasured Edinburg native and a |
|---|
| 10 | 10 | | three-term Hidalgo County commissioner for Precinct 4; and |
|---|
| 11 | 11 | | WHEREAS, Oscar Garza was admired for his charitable spirit |
|---|
| 12 | 12 | | and his commitment of service in the community; he gave |
|---|
| 13 | 13 | | generously of his time to benefit local youth and underprivileged |
|---|
| 14 | 14 | | residents, and he inspired countless individuals through his |
|---|
| 15 | 15 | | tireless volunteerism; and |
|---|
| 16 | 16 | | WHEREAS, In addition to donating his personal time to civic |
|---|
| 17 | 17 | | endeavors, Oscar served the county as a bailiff and as a justice |
|---|
| 18 | 18 | | of the peace for several years; he was later elected Precinct 4 |
|---|
| 19 | 19 | | commissioner, and during his three terms of service, he became |
|---|
| 20 | 20 | | known for maximizing beneficial projects without increasing tax |
|---|
| 21 | 21 | | burdens; and |
|---|
| 22 | 22 | | WHEREAS, The Oscar L. Garza Jr. administration building is |
|---|
| 23 | 23 | | a symbol of Mr. Garza's commitment to the residents of Hidalgo |
|---|
| 24 | 24 | | County, and it represents the continued efforts of local leaders |
|---|
| 25 | 25 | | to carry on his proud legacy of service; now, therefore, be it |
|---|
| 26 | 26 | | RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas, 86th |
|---|
| 27 | 27 | | Legislature, hereby commend the staff of the Hidalgo County |
|---|
| 28 | 28 | | Drainage District 1 for their exemplary civic work and |
|---|
| 29 | 29 | | congratulate them on the dedication of the Oscar L. Garza Jr. |
|---|
| 30 | 30 | | administration building; and, be it further |
|---|
| 31 | 31 | | RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution be prepared for |
