| 2 | 2 | | WHEREAS, The Senate of the State of Texas is pleased to |

| 3 | 3 | | recognize the staff of Front Steps for their invaluable work on |
|---|
| 4 | 4 | | behalf of the homeless in Austin; and |
|---|
| 5 | 5 | | WHEREAS, Front Steps was established as the Capital Area |
|---|
| 6 | 6 | | Homeless Alliance in 1997 to assist the area's homeless |
|---|
| 7 | 7 | | population; through a contract with the city, the organization |
|---|
| 8 | 8 | | serves as the managing entity for the Austin Resource Center for |
|---|
| 9 | 9 | | the Homeless; and |
|---|
| 10 | 10 | | WHEREAS, Front Steps has been able to succeed in its |
|---|
| 11 | 11 | | charitable mission through the work of caring employees who provide |
|---|
| 12 | 12 | | emergency shelter, recuperative medical care, comprehensive case |
|---|
| 13 | 13 | | management, addiction services, and support services to those in |
|---|
| 14 | 14 | | need; more than 600 individuals look to the Front Steps staff each |
|---|
| 15 | 15 | | day for around-the-clock services, and 230 men find rest at the |
|---|
| 16 | 16 | | emergency shelter each night; and |
|---|
| 17 | 17 | | WHEREAS, Front Steps staff members are motivated by an |
|---|
| 18 | 18 | | exceptional sense of compassion, and they serve the city's |
|---|
| 19 | 19 | | homeless population despite inevitable heartbreak and little |
|---|
| 20 | 20 | | recognition for their work; they further their commitment by |
|---|
| 21 | 21 | | raising public awareness about the agency and about issues |
|---|
| 22 | 22 | | affecting the area's homeless population; and |
|---|
| 23 | 23 | | WHEREAS, The team members at Front Steps exemplify the |
|---|
| 24 | 24 | | highest ideals of charitable service, and they are indeed |
|---|
| 25 | 25 | | deserving of recognition for their benevolent work; now, |
|---|
| 26 | 26 | | therefore, be it |
|---|
| 27 | 27 | | RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas, 86th |
|---|
| 28 | 28 | | Legislature, hereby honor all who contribute their time to help |
|---|
| 29 | 29 | | Front Steps succeed and commend them for working to improve the |
|---|
| 30 | 30 | | lives of their fellow citizens; and, be it further |
|---|
| 31 | 31 | | RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution be prepared for |
|---|
| 32 | 32 | | the staff of Front Steps as an expression of esteem from the |
|---|
| 33 | 33 | | Texas Senate. |
