| 3 | 3 | | recognize Kristen Hemphill of Lohn, Texas, for her exemplary |

| 4 | 4 | | achievements as a competitive sharpshooter and for recently |

| 5 | 5 | | earning the individual national title in air rifle at the 2019 |

| 6 | 6 | | National Collegiate Athletic Association's Collegiate Rifle |
|---|
| 7 | 7 | | Championship competition; and |
|---|
| 8 | 8 | | WHEREAS, Kristen Hemphill began developing her skill in |
|---|
| 9 | 9 | | precision shooting as a young member of the McCulloch County 4-H |
|---|
| 10 | 10 | | rifle team; at the young age of nine, she won her first state |
|---|
| 11 | 11 | | title in the BB-gun division, and she has since distinguished |
|---|
| 12 | 12 | | herself as one of the most talented air rifle and small-bore |
|---|
| 13 | 13 | | shooters in the nation; and |
|---|
| 14 | 14 | | WHEREAS, Kristen's extensive list of accolades includes |
|---|
| 15 | 15 | | multiple state and national championship titles; she set a |
|---|
| 16 | 16 | | national record at the 2017 Civilian Marksmanship Program |
|---|
| 17 | 17 | | competition with a perfect score of 200-19X in the standing |
|---|
| 18 | 18 | | position, and she earned a silver medal at the International |
|---|
| 19 | 19 | | Shooting Sport Federation Junior World Cup in Suhl, Germany; and |
|---|
| 20 | 20 | | WHEREAS, Kristen is currently a freshman at Texas |
|---|
| 21 | 21 | | Christian University, where she is a member of the Horned Frog |
|---|
| 22 | 22 | | rifle team, one of the two highest-ranking college rifle teams in |
|---|
| 23 | 23 | | the nation; the award-winning group recently took home four of |
|---|
| 24 | 24 | | five championship trophies at the National Collegiate Rifle |
|---|
| 25 | 25 | | Championships, and Kristen became the first Horned Frog in |
|---|
| 26 | 26 | | history to claim the individual title in air rifle; and |
|---|
| 27 | 27 | | WHEREAS, A truly talented sharpshooter, Kristen Hemphill has |
|---|
| 28 | 28 | | spent countless hours honing her craft and has developed a level of |
|---|
| 29 | 29 | | technical ability and mental tenacity uncommon among her peers; her |
|---|
| 30 | 30 | | family, teammates, community, and home state are proud of her for |
|---|
| 31 | 31 | | her hard work and her fine sportsmanship; now, therefore, be it |
|---|
| 32 | 32 | | RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas, 86th |

| 33 | 33 | | Legislature, hereby commend Kristen Hemphill on her exceptional |

| 34 | 34 | | accomplishments as a competitive shooter and congratulate her on |

| 35 | 35 | | winning the 2019 National Collegiate Rifle Championship |
