55 WHEREAS, The Senate of the State of Texas honors and
66 commemorates the life of Diane Maxey Graves, a lifelong resident
77 of Post, Texas, who died January 25, 2018, at the age of 71; and
88 WHEREAS, Diane Maxey Graves was born March 2, 1946, to
99 Quanah Maxey and Sue Green Maxey; she attended grade school at
1010 Graham Chapel in Garza County and was a 1964 graduate of Post High
1111 School; she also attended and graduated from Odessa Commercial
1212 College; and
1313 WHEREAS, She married Ronnie Graves on March 21, 1965, at
1414 the Graham Chapel Church of Christ; they made their life farming
1515 northeast of Post near the Double Mountain Fork of the Brazos
1616 River; and
1717 WHEREAS, They were blessed with a wonderful family; their
1818 son Russel Graves and his wife, Lonna, their son Ron Graves and
1919 his wife, Melinda, and their daughter, Angela, and her husband,
2020 Mark West, were a source of pride and joy who further blessed them
2121 with seven grandchildren; and
2222 WHEREAS, A devout Christian, Mrs. Graves was a lifelong
2323 member of the Graham Chapel Church of Christ, and she served the
2424 church as treasurer for many years; and
2525 WHEREAS, Mrs. Graves worked for the Texas AgriLife
2626 Extension Service for 28 years; she loved working with the youth
2727 of Garza County in the Texas 4-H program; she spent countless
2828 hours helping participants with various projects, particularly
2929 the 4-H Record Books, several of which went on to win at state and
3030 national competitions; and
3131 WHEREAS, She served for 25 years on the Garza County
3232 Livestock Association Board and served as secretary-treasurer
3333 for most of those years; she loved serving others and planning
3434 anything, and she was a lifelong season ticket holder to all Post
3535 High School sporting events; now, therefore, be it
3636 RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas, 86th
3737 Legislature, hereby extend sincere condolences to the bereaved
3838 family of Diane Maxey Graves; and, be it further
3939 RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution be prepared for
4040 her family as an expression of deepest sympathy from the Texas
4141 Senate and that when the Senate adjourns this day, it do so in
4242 memory of Diane Graves.
