| 5 | 5 | | WHEREAS, The Senate of the State of Texas honors and |
|---|
| 6 | 6 | | commemorates the life of Diane Maxey Graves, a lifelong resident |
|---|
| 7 | 7 | | of Post, Texas, who died January 25, 2018, at the age of 71; and |
|---|
| 8 | 8 | | WHEREAS, Diane Maxey Graves was born March 2, 1946, to |
|---|
| 9 | 9 | | Quanah Maxey and Sue Green Maxey; she attended grade school at |
|---|
| 10 | 10 | | Graham Chapel in Garza County and was a 1964 graduate of Post High |
|---|
| 11 | 11 | | School; she also attended and graduated from Odessa Commercial |
|---|
| 12 | 12 | | College; and |
|---|
| 13 | 13 | | WHEREAS, She married Ronnie Graves on March 21, 1965, at |
|---|
| 14 | 14 | | the Graham Chapel Church of Christ; they made their life farming |
|---|
| 15 | 15 | | northeast of Post near the Double Mountain Fork of the Brazos |
|---|
| 16 | 16 | | River; and |
|---|
| 17 | 17 | | WHEREAS, They were blessed with a wonderful family; their |
|---|
| 18 | 18 | | son Russel Graves and his wife, Lonna, their son Ron Graves and |
|---|
| 19 | 19 | | his wife, Melinda, and their daughter, Angela, and her husband, |
|---|
| 20 | 20 | | Mark West, were a source of pride and joy who further blessed them |
|---|
| 21 | 21 | | with seven grandchildren; and |
|---|
| 22 | 22 | | WHEREAS, A devout Christian, Mrs. Graves was a lifelong |
|---|
| 23 | 23 | | member of the Graham Chapel Church of Christ, and she served the |
|---|
| 24 | 24 | | church as treasurer for many years; and |
|---|
| 25 | 25 | | WHEREAS, Mrs. Graves worked for the Texas AgriLife |
|---|
| 26 | 26 | | Extension Service for 28 years; she loved working with the youth |
|---|
| 27 | 27 | | of Garza County in the Texas 4-H program; she spent countless |
|---|
| 28 | 28 | | hours helping participants with various projects, particularly |
|---|
| 29 | 29 | | the 4-H Record Books, several of which went on to win at state and |
|---|
| 30 | 30 | | national competitions; and |
|---|
| 31 | 31 | | WHEREAS, She served for 25 years on the Garza County |
|---|
| 32 | 32 | | Livestock Association Board and served as secretary-treasurer |
|---|
| 33 | 33 | | for most of those years; she loved serving others and planning |
|---|
| 34 | 34 | | anything, and she was a lifelong season ticket holder to all Post |
|---|
| 35 | 35 | | High School sporting events; now, therefore, be it |
|---|
| 36 | 36 | | RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas, 86th |
|---|
| 37 | 37 | | Legislature, hereby extend sincere condolences to the bereaved |
|---|
| 38 | 38 | | family of Diane Maxey Graves; and, be it further |
|---|
| 39 | 39 | | RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution be prepared for |
|---|
| 40 | 40 | | her family as an expression of deepest sympathy from the Texas |
|---|
| 41 | 41 | | Senate and that when the Senate adjourns this day, it do so in |
|---|
| 42 | 42 | | memory of Diane Graves. |
