5 | 5 | | WHEREAS, The citizens of Pleasanton lost a beloved |
---|
6 | 6 | | resident and civic leader with the passing of the Honorable J. |
---|
7 | 7 | | Taylor Brite on January 8, 2019, at the age of 97; and |
---|
8 | 8 | | WHEREAS, The son of Thomas and Nora Brite, Taylor Brite was |
---|
9 | 9 | | born in San Antonio on October 27, 1921, and he grew up with the |
---|
10 | 10 | | companionship of four siblings, Ralph, Bessie, Rita, and Iris; |
---|
11 | 11 | | answering his nation's call to duty, he served in the Army Air |
---|
12 | 12 | | Forces during World War II; and |
---|
13 | 13 | | WHEREAS, Judge Brite began his exemplary 46-year career in |
---|
14 | 14 | | public service in 1950, when he was elected Atascosa County |
---|
15 | 15 | | attorney; he was appointed district attorney in 1960, and he went |
---|
16 | 16 | | on to serve as judge of the 81st Judicial District in South Texas |
---|
17 | 17 | | and as senior district judge for the State of Texas; active in his |
---|
18 | 18 | | profession, he held the office of president of the Texas District & |
---|
19 | 19 | | County Attorneys Association; and |
---|
20 | 20 | | WHEREAS, In all his endeavors, Judge Brite enjoyed the love |
---|
21 | 21 | | and support of his wife, Frances, with whom he shared a rewarding |
---|
22 | 22 | | marriage that spanned 68 years until her passing; he took great |
---|
23 | 23 | | pride in his children, Steve, Gary, Tom, and Patricia, and he had |
---|
24 | 24 | | the pleasure of seeing his family grow to include 11 grandchildren, |
---|
25 | 25 | | Chris, Matt, Jennifer, Amy, Emily, Kevin, Robert, Tara, Taylor, |
---|
26 | 26 | | Alan, and Rachel, and 11 great-grandchildren, Ben, Annie, John, |
---|
27 | 27 | | Will, Zachary, Mia, Liam, Owen, Graham, Henry, and Jemma; and |
---|
28 | 28 | | WHEREAS, The loss of Taylor Brite is keenly felt by the |
---|
29 | 29 | | numerous friends he made through the years as well as by the many |
---|
30 | 30 | | people in Atascosa County and beyond whose lives he forever |
---|
31 | 31 | | enriched; now, therefore, be it |
---|
32 | 32 | | RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas, 86th |
---|
33 | 33 | | Legislature, hereby pay tribute to the memory of the Honorable J. |
---|
34 | 34 | | Taylor Brite and extend sincere sympathy to all who mourn his |
---|
35 | 35 | | passing; and, be it further |

36 | 36 | | RESOLVED, That an official copy of this Resolution be |

37 | 37 | | prepared for his family and that when the Texas Senate adjourns |
