| 5 | 5 | | WHEREAS, The Senate of the State of Texas joins the |
|---|
| 6 | 6 | | citizens of Independence Heights in mourning the loss of Ruby Lee |
|---|
| 7 | 7 | | Scott, who died on February 22, 2019; and |
|---|
| 8 | 8 | | WHEREAS, Born June 18, 1930, Ruby Scott inspired those who |
|---|
| 9 | 9 | | knew her through her warmth and kindness and her faithful service |
|---|
| 10 | 10 | | to her community; and |
|---|
| 11 | 11 | | WHEREAS, Mrs. Scott enjoyed a long career as a custodian at |
|---|
| 12 | 12 | | John F. Kennedy Elementary School, and she retired from work in |
|---|
| 13 | 13 | | May of 1994; and |
|---|
| 14 | 14 | | WHEREAS, She was a devoted mother to three sons, and her |
|---|
| 15 | 15 | | many grandchildren and great-grandchildren enriched her life |
|---|
| 16 | 16 | | immeasurably; and |
|---|
| 17 | 17 | | WHEREAS, A cherished resident of Independence Heights, |
|---|
| 18 | 18 | | Mrs. Scott was known by local children as the lady with the |
|---|
| 19 | 19 | | beautiful house who decorated for every holiday season; she |
|---|
| 20 | 20 | | attended Concord Baptist Church, and she later joined the |
|---|
| 21 | 21 | | congregation of Salem Missionary Baptist Church; and |
|---|
| 22 | 22 | | WHEREAS, Ruby Scott was a woman of strength, courage, and |
|---|
| 23 | 23 | | generosity, and she will long be remembered with respect and |
|---|
| 24 | 24 | | admiration by all who were privileged to share in her life; now, |
|---|
| 25 | 25 | | therefore, be it |
|---|
| 26 | 26 | | RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas, 86th |
|---|
| 27 | 27 | | Legislature, hereby extend sincere condolences to the bereaved |
|---|
| 28 | 28 | | family of Ruby Lee Scott; and, be it further |
|---|
| 29 | 29 | | RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution be prepared for |
|---|
| 30 | 30 | | her family as an expression of deepest sympathy from the Texas |
|---|
| 31 | 31 | | Senate and that when the Senate adjourns this day, it do so in |

| 32 | 32 | | memory of Ruby Scott. |
