| 2 | 2 | | WHEREAS, The Senate of the State of Texas is pleased to |

| 3 | 3 | | recognize the East Harris Chambers-Liberty County Alumnae |

| 4 | 4 | | Chapter of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Incorporated, which is |

| 5 | 5 | | being chartered on March 30, 2019; and |

| 6 | 6 | | WHEREAS, Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Incorporated, was |

| 7 | 7 | | founded in 1913 on the campus of Howard University; the |
|---|
| 8 | 8 | | organization strives to promote academic excellence, provide |
|---|
| 9 | 9 | | scholarships, improve communities, support the underserved, and |
|---|
| 10 | 10 | | encourage civic and political awareness and participation in the |
|---|
| 11 | 11 | | establishment of positive public policy; and |
|---|
| 12 | 12 | | WHEREAS, More than 90 college-educated women are coming |
|---|
| 13 | 13 | | together to create the 1,050th chapter of the sorority so that |
|---|
| 14 | 14 | | they can serve the residents in the east area of Harris County and |
|---|
| 15 | 15 | | of Chambers and Liberty Counties; it is truly fitting that they |
|---|
| 16 | 16 | | receive special recognition for their commitment to public |
|---|
| 17 | 17 | | service; now, therefore, be it |
|---|
| 18 | 18 | | RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas, 86th |
|---|
| 19 | 19 | | Legislature, hereby commend the founding members of the East Harris |
|---|
| 20 | 20 | | Chambers-Liberty County Alumnae Chapter of Delta Sigma Theta |
|---|
| 21 | 21 | | Sorority, Incorporated, on the occasion of the chapter's charter |

| 22 | 22 | | and extend to them best wishes for success; and, be it further |

| 23 | 23 | | RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution be prepared for |
