2	2	WHEREAS, Texas Ambulatory Surgery Center Awareness Day is
3	3	taking place on March 29, 2019; and
4	4	WHEREAS, Ambulatory surgery centers, also known as ASCs,
5	5	are modern health care facilities that provide patients with
6	6	same-day surgical care, including diagnostic and preventive
7	7	procedures, that enable patients to return to their homes to
8	8	recover on the same day; and
9	9	WHEREAS, A growing alternative to hospitalization and other
10	10	institution-based forms of health care, ASCs serve hundreds of
11	11	thousands of Texans each year; they are also an efficient and
12	12	lower-cost option for many patients, resulting in millions of
13	13	dollars in savings for the Texas health care system; and
14	14	WHEREAS, Ambulatory surgery centers are helping to meet
15	15	the growing demand for quality, cost-efficient, and more
16	16	convenient outpatient procedures, and Ambulatory Surgery Center
17	17	Awareness Day offers a welcome opportunity to honor their
18	18	contributions; now, therefore, be it
19	19	RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas, 86th
20	20	Legislature, hereby recognize March 29, 2019, as Texas
21	21	Ambulatory Surgery Center Awareness Day and commend ambulatory
22	22	surgery centers for their efforts to address the health care
23	23	needs of Texans.
