11 SENATE RESOLUTION NO. 508
22 WHEREAS, Christopher L. Williston, CAE, retired as
33 president and chief executive officer of the Independent Bankers
44 Association of Texas on December 31, 2018, after 30 years of
55 leading the association and advocating on behalf of independent
66 community banks throughout the state; and
77 WHEREAS, The association has benefited greatly from
88 Mr. Williston's passion for and dedication to the community
99 banking industry; under his guidance, it has grown to become the
1010 largest state association of its kind in the country,
1111 representing more than 2,000 banks and branches in cities and
1212 towns of all sizes; over the years, he has worked tirelessly to
1313 ensure that Texas bankers' voices are heard and that their
1414 interests are effectively represented, and the many highlights
1515 of his tenure have included championing regulatory relief
1616 efforts that will have a notable impact on the success and
1717 viability of community banks; and
1818 WHEREAS, An alumnus of Texas Tech University,
1919 Mr. Williston received his Certified Association Executive
2020 designation at the age of 26, becoming one of the youngest
2121 recipients in the nation; throughout his career, he has served on
2222 a host of boards and councils, including those of the Independent
2323 Community Bankers of America, the Texas Society of Association
2424 Executives, and the Southwestern Graduate School of Banking; he
2525 has further contributed to his peers through his work as a
2626 sought-after speaker on association management, as a community
2727 bankingconsultant,asafacilitatorofstrategicplanning
2828 sessions for other associations, and as the author of the widely
2929 acclaimed The Association Executive's Little Black Book; and
3030 WHEREAS, Christopher Williston's leadership, determination,
3131 and vision have helped position the Texas community banking
3232 industry well for the future, and he has earned the lasting respect
3333 and gratitude of the countless fellow Texans who have come to know
3434 him as a colleague, mentor, and friend; now, therefore, be it
3535 RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas, 86th
3636 Legislature, hereby commend Christopher L. Williston, CAE, for
3737 his years of service as president and chief executive officer of
3838 the Independent Bankers Association of Texas and extend to him
3939 sincere best wishes for continued success and happiness; and, be
4040 it further
4141 RESOLVED, That an official copy of this Resolution be
4242 prepared for Mr. Williston as an expression of high regard by the
4343 Texas Senate.
