55 WHEREAS, The Senate of the State of Texas joins the
66 citizens of Laredo in mourning the loss of David T. Newman, who
77 died February 1, 2019, at the age of 59; and
88 WHEREAS, Born on November 29, 1959, David Newman was an
99 esteemed citizen who inspired those who knew him with his
1010 kindness, his absolute devotion to friends and loved ones, and
1111 his many contributions to the community; and
1212 WHEREAS, David Newman attended The University of Texas at
1313 Austin; he enjoyed a successful business career as a managing
1414 partner and vice president of B. P. Newman Investments, the firm
1515 owned by his family, and he oversaw Church's Chicken franchises
1616 in multiple states; and
1717 WHEREAS, A devoted philanthropist and respected civic
1818 leader, Mr. Newman served on the boards of several charitable
1919 foundations, including Habitat for Humanity and the Laredo
2020 Animal Protective Society, and he was chairman of the board for
2121 the Laredo Chamber of Commerce from 2014 to 2015; and
2222 WHEREAS, Above all things, Mr. Newman adored his family;
2323 left behind to cherish his memory are his wife of 30 years, Laura
2424 Newman, his two children, Brian Patrick and Lindsay Kaye, his
2525 mother, Peggy Newman, and numerous friends and extended family
2626 members; now, therefore, be it
2727 RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas, 86th
2828 Legislature, hereby extend sincere condolences to the bereaved
2929 family of David T. Newman; and, be it further
3030 RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution be prepared for
3131 his family as an expression of deepest sympathy from the Texas
3232 Senate and that when the Senate adjourns this day, it do so in
3333 memory of David Newman.
