| 2 | 2 | | WHEREAS, The Senate of the State of Texas is pleased to |

| 3 | 3 | | recognize Otto L. Fuchs Jr. of Carmine, Texas, for 75 years of |
|---|
| 4 | 4 | | membership in American Legion Quade-Werchan Post 338; and |
|---|
| 5 | 5 | | WHEREAS, Otto Fuchs served with distinction in the United |
|---|
| 6 | 6 | | States Army with the 42nd Infantry during World War II; he was on |
|---|
| 7 | 7 | | the front lines in Europe, where he survived the Battle of the |
|---|
| 8 | 8 | | Bulge, and he was part of the group that liberated the Dachau |
|---|
| 9 | 9 | | Concentration Camp; and |
|---|
| 10 | 10 | | WHEREAS, While Otto was fighting overseas, his father |
|---|
| 11 | 11 | | enrolled both of them in American Legion Post 338 and paid Otto's |
|---|
| 12 | 12 | | dues until he returned home; they were one of six father-son |
|---|
| 13 | 13 | | charter members of the post; and |
|---|
| 14 | 14 | | WHEREAS, After his military service, Otto earned a degree |
|---|
| 15 | 15 | | from Texas A&M University, and he taught classes for veterans |
|---|
| 16 | 16 | | before beginning a long career teaching vocational agriculture |
|---|
| 17 | 17 | | in the Round Top-Carmine Independent School District; and |
|---|
| 18 | 18 | | WHEREAS, Throughout his life, he has remained devoted to his |
|---|
| 19 | 19 | | American Legion post; he served as post commander three times for a |
|---|
| 20 | 20 | | total of eight years and as chaplain for more than 30 years; and |
|---|
| 21 | 21 | | WHEREAS, Otto Fuchs is a patriot of immeasurable strength |
|---|
| 22 | 22 | | and integrity who has contributed greatly to the ongoing success |
|---|
| 23 | 23 | | of Post 338, and he can look back with pride on his many years of |
|---|
| 24 | 24 | | service to the organization; now, therefore, be it |
|---|
| 25 | 25 | | RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas, 86th |
|---|
| 26 | 26 | | Legislature, hereby commend Otto L. Fuchs Jr. on 75 years of |
|---|
| 27 | 27 | | membership in American Legion Quade-Werchan Post 338 and extend |
|---|
| 28 | 28 | | to him best wishes for the future; and, be it further |
|---|
| 29 | 29 | | RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution be prepared for |
|---|
| 30 | 30 | | him as an expression of esteem from the Texas Senate. |
