1	1	SENATE RESOLUTION NO. 534
2	2	WHEREAS, The Senate of the State of Texas is pleased to
3	3	join the Texas Retired Teachers Association and Texans across the
4	4	state in celebrating April 1 through 5, 2019, as Texas Retired
5	5	Teachers Week; and
6	6	WHEREAS, The people of Texas take great pride in the
7	7	state's public educators and in the indispensable services they
8	8	provide to citizens; the Texas Retired Teachers Association was
9	9	established to represent the state's current and future public
10	10	education retirees; and
11	11	WHEREAS, The association's more than 94,000 members
12	12	continually work to improve their local communities across the
13	13	state; through the years, they have provided nearly six million
14	14	hours of volunteer service, and they have promoted lifelong
15	15	learning through the Children's Book Project, which has
16	16	furnished more than one million books to the state's
17	17	children; and
18	18	WHEREAS, The association has also been a tireless advocate
19	19	for the men and women whose efforts as teachers have played such
20	20	an important role in the growth and prosperity of our state; and
21	21	WHEREAS, Throughout its history, the Texas Retired
22	22	Teachers Association has demonstrated an unwavering commitment
23	23	to support educators and excellence in education, and its members
24	24	have made a positive and lasting difference in the lives of
25	25	countless Texans; now, therefore, be it
26	26	RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas, 86th
27	27	Legislature, hereby commend the members of the Texas Retired
28	28	Teachers Association on their many contributions to our state and
29	29	extend to them best wishes for a productive and rewarding Texas
30	30	Retired Teachers Week; and, be it further
31	31	RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution be prepared for
32	32	the association as an expression of high regard from the
33	33	Texas Senate.
