| 2 | 2 | | WHEREAS, The Senate of the State of Texas is pleased to |

| 3 | 3 | | recognize David Hamill for his outstanding work with the New |

| 4 | 4 | | Horizons Lacrosse Foundation; and |
|---|
| 5 | 5 | | WHEREAS, David Hamill founded the New Horizons Lacrosse |
|---|
| 6 | 6 | | Foundation in 2009 after retiring from a successful career as an |
|---|
| 7 | 7 | | architect; this exemplary nonprofit organization has offered |
|---|
| 8 | 8 | | students at all levels the opportunity to play lacrosse, the |
|---|
| 9 | 9 | | oldest sport on the North American continent; and |
|---|
| 10 | 10 | | WHEREAS, Under his leadership, the foundation has worked |
|---|
| 11 | 11 | | with other school-based, nonprofit organizations to support |
|---|
| 12 | 12 | | athletic development among young people in the underserved |
|---|
| 13 | 13 | | communities of East Austin; it has provided physical education |
|---|
| 14 | 14 | | curricula to schools and was an early collaborator with US |
|---|
| 15 | 15 | | Lacrosse on the Diversity and Inclusion National Grant |
|---|
| 16 | 16 | | Program; and |
|---|
| 17 | 17 | | WHEREAS, The foundation has worked with more than a dozen |
|---|
| 18 | 18 | | East Austin schools to establish lacrosse teams, including the |
|---|
| 19 | 19 | | first all-East Austin boys' and girls' teams to play in the |
|---|
| 20 | 20 | | Central Texas Youth Lacrosse Association; and |
|---|
| 21 | 21 | | WHEREAS, For 10 years, David Hamill has had a positive |
|---|
| 22 | 22 | | impact on the East Austin community through his work with the New |
|---|
| 23 | 23 | | Horizons Lacrosse Foundation, and it is truly fitting that he |
|---|
| 24 | 24 | | receive special recognition; now, therefore, be it |
|---|
| 25 | 25 | | RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas, 86th |
|---|
| 26 | 26 | | Legislature, hereby commend David Hamill on his hard work and his |
|---|
| 27 | 27 | | commitment to serving young people and extend to him best wishes |
|---|
| 28 | 28 | | for continued success in his efforts with the New Horizons |
|---|
| 29 | 29 | | Lacrosse Foundation; and, be it further |
|---|
| 30 | 30 | | RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution be prepared for |
