| 2 | 2 | | WHEREAS, The Senate of the State of Texas is pleased to |

| 3 | 3 | | recognize U. Reneé Hall for her pioneering leadership as chief of |
|---|
| 4 | 4 | | the Dallas Police Department; and |
|---|
| 5 | 5 | | WHEREAS, Chief U. Reneé Hall is the 29th chief of police |
|---|
| 6 | 6 | | for the City of Dallas and the first woman to ever hold the |
|---|
| 7 | 7 | | position; she joined the Dallas department after a long career |
|---|
| 8 | 8 | | with the Detroit Police Department, where she had 12 years of |
|---|
| 9 | 9 | | management and executive-level experience and commanded the |
|---|
| 10 | 10 | | largest bureau on the force; and |
|---|
| 11 | 11 | | WHEREAS, Since stepping in to lead the Dallas Police |
|---|
| 12 | 12 | | Department, Chief Hall has implemented a plan that prioritizes |
|---|
| 13 | 13 | | crime reduction, recruitment, advanced officer development, |
|---|
| 14 | 14 | | organizational effectiveness, and community relationships; and |
|---|
| 15 | 15 | | WHEREAS, Chief Hall has engaged with local school districts |
|---|
| 16 | 16 | | and colleges to create an internship program to generate student |
|---|
| 17 | 17 | | interest and help foster the next generation of public safety |
|---|
| 18 | 18 | | officers; she has spearheaded several policy changes to the |
|---|
| 19 | 19 | | benefit of the police force and the greater community, and she is |
|---|
| 20 | 20 | | noted for increasing internal accessibility to the chief's |
|---|
| 21 | 21 | | office; and |
|---|
| 22 | 22 | | WHEREAS, Chief U. Reneé Hall is a highly trained law |
|---|
| 23 | 23 | | enforcement executive with a proven record of exemplary |
|---|
| 24 | 24 | | leadership; in her short time as chief, she has taken significant |
|---|
| 25 | 25 | | steps to transform the Dallas Police Department into a streamlined |
|---|
| 26 | 26 | | agency of 21st century policing; now, therefore, be it |
|---|
| 27 | 27 | | RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas, 86th |
|---|
| 28 | 28 | | Legislature, hereby commend Chief U. Reneé Hall for setting the |
|---|
| 29 | 29 | | Dallas Police Department on a course for long-term growth and |
|---|
| 30 | 30 | | success and extend to her best wishes for the future; and, be |
|---|
