11 SENATE RESOLUTION NO. 564
22 WHEREAS, The Senate of the State of Texas joins the
33 citizens of Hutto in celebrating May 1, 2019, as Hutto Day at the
44 State Capitol; and
55 WHEREAS, Nestled in the rich black lands of southeastern
66 Williamson County, Hutto was one of the first villages in the
77 area and was settled in 1855 by Swedish migrant J. E. Hutto and
88 freed slave Adam Orgain; the city was incorporated by the State
99 of Texas in 1911; and
1010 WHEREAS, Cotton played a major role in the city's history,
1111 and while the economy has continued to benefit from proud
1212 agricultural traditions, it has thrived with a dynamic workforce
1313 and an increasing number of high-tech and manufacturing
1414 industries; civic leaders have focused on conscientious
1515 development projects that have brought in many new retail
1616 establishments and contributed to citywide beautification; and
1717 WHEREAS, Residents of Hutto benefit from a growing parks
1818 system, flourishing public school and higher education
1919 systems, and an award-winning emergency services district; in
2020 2017, Hutto Fire and Rescue was named the Texas EMS First
2121 Responder of the Year; and
2222 WHEREAS, Hutto is a vibrant and welcoming community and an
2323 attractive place for residents and visitors alike; citizens can
2424 be justifiably proud of their rich history while looking
2525 forward to a future of continued growth and prosperity; now,
2626 therefore, be it
2727 RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas, 86th
2828 Legislature, hereby welcome the visiting delegation from Hutto
2929 and extend to them best wishes for a rewarding Hutto Day at the
3030 State Capitol; and, be it further
3131 RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution be prepared in
3232 honor of this special occasion.
