| 2 | 2 | | WHEREAS, The Senate of the State of Texas is pleased to |

| 3 | 3 | | recognize the Junior League of Midland, Incorporated, for 70 |
|---|
| 4 | 4 | | years of outstanding service to the community; and |
|---|
| 5 | 5 | | WHEREAS, The Junior League of Midland was founded on |
|---|
| 6 | 6 | | March 3, 1949, by a group of 28 visionary women with the mission |
|---|
| 7 | 7 | | of promoting volunteerism, developing the potential of women, |
|---|
| 8 | 8 | | and improving the community through the effective action and |
|---|
| 9 | 9 | | leadership of trained volunteers; and |
|---|
| 10 | 10 | | WHEREAS, Dedicated to educational and charitable causes, |
|---|
| 11 | 11 | | the Junior League of Midland has developed an array of programs |
|---|
| 12 | 12 | | over the years, beginning with a central index file for use by |
|---|
| 13 | 13 | | philanthropic organizations and including such initiatives as |
|---|
| 14 | 14 | | the Fredda Turner Durham Children's Museum, the Children's Dental |
|---|
| 15 | 15 | | Clinic, Midland Teen Court, and Shotguns and Stilettos; and |
|---|
| 16 | 16 | | WHEREAS, The organization's more than 750 members will have |
|---|
| 17 | 17 | | provided approximately 16,000 hours of volunteer service in 2018 |
|---|
| 18 | 18 | | and 2019 alone; the current community impact focus is based on |
|---|
| 19 | 19 | | the dictum of Keeping Kids in School -- Every Age, Every Stage; |
|---|
| 20 | 20 | | ongoing efforts include the Reading Olympics and various |
|---|
| 21 | 21 | | mentoring programs for area students; and |
|---|
| 22 | 22 | | WHEREAS, The Junior League of Midland, Incorporated, has |
|---|
| 23 | 23 | | had a positive impact on the fabric of life in the community, and |
|---|
| 24 | 24 | | it is truly fitting that it receive special recognition for its |
|---|
| 25 | 25 | | many philanthropic endeavors; now, therefore, be it |
|---|
| 26 | 26 | | RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas, 86th |
|---|
| 27 | 27 | | Legislature, hereby commend the Junior League of Midland, |
|---|
| 28 | 28 | | Incorporated, on the organization's 70 years of exceptional |
|---|
| 29 | 29 | | service to the community and extend to its members best wishes |
|---|
| 30 | 30 | | for continued success in all their endeavors; and, be it further |
|---|
| 31 | 31 | | RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution be prepared for |
|---|
| 32 | 32 | | this exemplary organization as an expression of esteem from the |
|---|
