| 3 | 3 | | Association are visiting the State Capitol on April 17, 2019, for |

| 4 | 4 | | Doctors of Osteopathic Medical Excellence (DOME) Day, and this |
|---|
| 5 | 5 | | occasion offers a welcome opportunity to recognize the important |
|---|
| 6 | 6 | | contributions that osteopathic physicians make to the health |
|---|
| 7 | 7 | | care system in the Lone Star State; and |
|---|
| 8 | 8 | | WHEREAS, Trained to consider the health of the whole |
|---|
| 9 | 9 | | person, DOs are fully licensed to prescribe medicine and to |
|---|
| 10 | 10 | | practice in all medical specialties, including surgery; they pay |
|---|
| 11 | 11 | | particular attention to how nerves, muscles, bones, and organs |
|---|
| 12 | 12 | | work together to influence health, and through osteopathic |
|---|
| 13 | 13 | | manipulative treatment, DOs use their hands to diagnose injury |
|---|
| 14 | 14 | | and illness and stimulate the body's natural ability to heal |
|---|
| 15 | 15 | | itself; and |
|---|
| 16 | 16 | | WHEREAS, Representing osteopathic physicians across the |
|---|
| 17 | 17 | | state, the Texas Osteopathic Medical Association was founded in |
|---|
| 18 | 18 | | 1900 by a group of five physicians; the organization is dedicated |
|---|
| 19 | 19 | | to advancing the philosophy and principles of osteopathic |
|---|
| 20 | 20 | | medicine and serving the needs of doctors within the field; and |
|---|
| 21 | 21 | | WHEREAS, Practitioners of osteopathic medicine play an |
|---|
| 22 | 22 | | essential role in maintaining the health and well-being of |
|---|
| 23 | 23 | | countless Texans, and these skilled professionals may indeed |
|---|
| 24 | 24 | | reflect with pride on the exceptional care they provide to their |
|---|
| 25 | 25 | | patients; now, therefore, be it |
|---|
| 26 | 26 | | RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas, 86th |
|---|
| 27 | 27 | | Legislature, hereby recognize April 17, 2019, as Doctors of |
|---|
| 28 | 28 | | Osteopathic Medical Excellence Day at the State Capitol; and, be |
